I worked at BLJC (More than a year)

    Pros

Excellent benefits that start on day 1, one of the best I've seen Excellent experience to all aspects of construction and facilities management Excellent use of remote technologies Excellent mentorship

    Cons

Your overall experience depends greatly on who you end up working with. Dominating personalities can make the experience very unpleasant.

    Advice to Management

Do not be passive about cat fights and unfair/uncomfortable situations for fellow staff.

I have been working at BLJC full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Pros? They pay you on time. Benefits are ok. Can't really think of anything else good.

    Cons

Management seems to promote laziness. You only get promoted if you have connections or brown-nose. People are not in jobs appropriate to their skills. No consistency in pay. New hires frequently get paid more than existing employees as it is left up to the hiring manager to decide your salary. HR does not get involved n the hiring process except to process the paperwork at the end. Provide no assistance with career guidance. Not everyone is allowed to work from home.

    Advice to Management

Start a fair and equal process for hiring - involve HR from the start all the way through to selection. Be consistent with salaries - start all new employees at the bottom of the pay scale, not some at bottom, some at middle and some at top. Make sure people's skills match their jobs. Start promoting from within - too many jobs are filled with people's friends and existing employees are left to stagnate in a job that is not in line with their skills. Don't post jobs externally until all internal applicants are exhausted; should not look outside when there are people inside that are qualified.

    Pros

    Free food in the kitchen

    Cons

They dont hire the staffs properly. Lots of the staffs lied in their resume. They have to hire temp staffs to patch up their lousy management. Management ie, regional manager, business manager are rude, bullies, not professional at all. Even their hr is dodgy.

    Advice to Management

Wonder whether the top management really care when the regional managements are already suck in handling staffs

    Pros

Good opportunities in the the field of facility mangement.

    Cons

Metrics focused and result oriented at the cost of work/life balance. Customer interest not always priority. Unethical procurement practices overlooked if results beneficial to bottom line. Employees exploited. Lip service. High churn rate leads and poor hiring practices.

    Advice to Management

Remote field teams not engaged as part of company and left to operate autonomously.

    Pros

They do a good job of mentoring you if you are starting you career. However, this doesn't apply to all departments.

    Cons

The pay is well below average. The senior management team could be very cold and arrogant. They pass you in the hall way or even see you at events and ignore you. Unless you've got a top job, you can be made to feel very inferior.

    Advice to Management

It would be good idea to share profits with all the employees via salary increases. Really need to value and pay employees fairly...

    Pros

Good benefit package if you have a family,Salary is comparable to what you will get doing the same job in the rest of the FM industry

    Cons

Work environment in HQ is horrible, it’s an open office and it is packed. No room to take a private call at all, you need to walk out of the entire building if you need any privacy. Many long-time employees who are not qualified for what they are doing…Generally fairly low tech across the entire company. Some top management people could be very arrogant. For example, if you meet some of them in the corridor, don’t expect they would say "hi" or smile back to you. Very political environment in HQ, you have to be careful what you are saying even in the washroom. Recommend wearing a formal outfit every day,

    Advice to Management

Treat well performing and qualified employees with more respect and be less hesitant to deal with those who are not qualified.

    Pros

Some really nice people in head office and on site. Good parties. Pays their employees well. Free fruit, bread and cakes.

    Cons

No work-life balance, and you'll be chastised for not getting work done when you are working 24/7. Lots of bullies in senior management who go unpunished and more the to the point, rewarded.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of the arseholes and hire enough people to do the work.
