I have been working at BMC Software full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Love the culture, people help you achieve your goals, beautiful campus.

    Cons

With BMC going private, we're in a time of adjustment. Fist fiscal quarter was wasted.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

In investing, the higher your risk the higher the rewards. The same principle should apply to your sales people. If you make it significantly harder to achieve a higher quota, the commissions should increase and not decrease.

I have been working at BMC Software full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Great Training, Mostly Great People (although many are leaving), Many Products

    Cons

Poor Strategy Execution and lack of Focus, Looking to Reduce Cost as much as possible, limited opportunity, major change in culture, lacking a true identity, technology is outdated

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Provide individuals real opportunity, not just those that appear this way on the surface, there is a difference between motivation and manipulation

    Disapointing work experience

    I worked at BMC Software

    Pros

Great people, products, flexible environment and competitive pay were the only things that made working at BMC a tolerable experience.

    Cons

A clueless top management is slow to act on opportunities which everyone else sees clear as day. Also appear to not understand that you can't grow a business if you only employ enough people to keep the lights on.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Replace yourself with execs who know how to grow a business, not make the bottom line appear better by laying off people.

I have been working at BMC Software full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

The pay and vacation time is reasonable. The office I work has a good culture and the local management is good to work with.

    Cons

Changed corporate direction too often. Never sure where the future of the company is going. We were acquired in Feb 2012 and most of the items they promised were broken.

I worked at BMC Software full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Some very bright consultants and engineers.
    Handful of competent business folks.

    Cons

    They belong to Bain Capital.
    Poor executive management.
    Sweat-shop workload.
Poor corporate culture perpetuating low morale among workforce.
Its all about the bottom-line for BMC HQ
    Crappy product "integrations"
Quarterly re-organizations (i.e., went through 7 "supervisors" of whom I met only one)
    Employees treated like TP
Overseas resources treated like used TP

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Resign. The figurative handwriting is on the wall now. Very soon Bain Capital will do to BMC Software what BMC Software's own executive team has been trying to do for the past 7 years: bankrupt it.
