Applications Software Development Manager (Former Employee)
    Toronto, ON (Canada)

ProsPeople are great to work with, and the exchange of ideas is always encouraged between all levels of staff.

ConsLots of pressure delivering day to day support, and small to large projects. Benefits and bonus plan are good. Office culture is casual but business driven to help contribute to the goals.

Advice to Senior ManagementI had not seen skip level meetings (staff with manager's manager or higher) used before, but these provide much insight to upper management about what the front line workers are doing, thinking, and what they need

ProsGreat benefits....medical, dental and eye insurance. Employee share plan.

ConsVeryyyyy sales driven! Outsiders come in with zero experience get higher positions because you were not top in your sales.... Returned from mat leave and were not accommodating to my life change in terms of scheduling.

    experience is fine

    Customer Contact Agent (Current Employee)
    Montreal, QC (Canada)

    Prosgood salary
    good environment
    new computers
    kitchen available

    Consa lot of calls
    sales environment

Advice to Senior Managementoffer more vacation and remove or at least decrease the mandatory sales since a lot of employees quit because of that and it takes more money to train new employees and then they also quit and since they're new they do mistakes, they're slow and customers close they're accounts because they're not being satisfied with the service

Stay for a good time, not a long time...

    Business Consultant (Former Employee)
    Toronto, ON (Canada)

Pros1. Pleasant corp culture for the most part; most people are nice and play well together.

    2. Good training opportunities; their IFL training centre is world class with quite broad mix of courses in offer. Good frameworks for development for various job roles. Reasonable opportunities to gain new skills and knowledge.

    3. Decent benefits and comp;

    4. Work/life is reasonable.

Cons1. Poor career progression opportunities -- at least within T&O. Grade level increases next to impossible, so get in at the highest grade u can.

    2. T&O rife with disengaged and incompetent resources; this persists because there is insufficient accountability and ownership.

    3. Very poor people resource and knowledge management in some areas; quite a few managers who should not be managing people.

    4. Way too many time reporting systems to enter your time into and weekly status reporting -- way too onerous.

Advice to Senior Management1. Focus on ensuring accountability and ownership at all levels for execution/delivery.

    2. Focus more on developing emerging leaders and promoting high potential individuals.

    3. Reduce admin overhead for staff so they can focus on actually doing the work.

    "Was not what I expected"

    Commercial Account Manager (Former Employee)
    Surrey, BC (Canada)

ProsThe company provides training to their staff. As in any Company, there are nice people in the organization. The benefits are comparable to most large companies.

ConsExpectations are unrealistic. Lots of long hours inputing information on the system for the Bank to track your activities, total waste of time. Staff banking benefits are ok - some banks or credit unions have better pricing for their staffs. Loan System was a total failure in terms of efficiencies, creates for a lot of mistakes and can get very complex depending on type of loan.

Advice to Senior ManagementIf you want your front line staff to sell, then take the account reviews to another dept as both takes time to complete. Also, credit room is overly conservative which becomes a challenge in booking loans.
