I worked at BNP Media full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

I spent nearly eight years at BNP Media on various magazines among kind, hardworking, and creative colleagues. I left only due child-related reasons. Great teamwork and I loved the "working your way" policy that allowed me to pay attention to both my job and my family. I felt the "higher-ups" cared about their employees and the senior editorial staff were great mentors.

    Cons

I would say the salaries are not as high as some places, but they are decent enough, especially for an industry that has suffered, like publishing. The working your way policy/flex time helps make up for the slightly lower than average salaries.

    Advice to Management

When possible, I would try to bump up the salaries, or offer more part-time positions within the company.

    Pros

This company is family friendly and recognizes the challenges of work/life situations. You get back what you give to a company and they recognize this. BNP Media has some of the most hard working people I know. BNP provides a very competitive benefit package and a very generous time off policy. It's a fantastic place to work.

    Cons

    None come to my mine.

    Pros

There is nothing positive to say about this place.

    Cons

Employees are underpaid and overworked, management is disorganized, the publishers are rude and treat the support staff like crap. The internal process sucks, they do everything last minute and blame hardworking employees for making mistakes that could be avoided if the publishers read their emails and paid attention. They get people to work there by making them think they will get more money down the road, then they double the job responsibilities and pay $30k. The staff lies and takes advantage of hard working people. It’s a sweatshop! Do yourself a favor and don't work there, trust me!

I worked at BNP Media full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I was lucky to have a great supervisor who taught me a lot about the industry and the processes, but this doesn't always apply to every department. It's a great place to start out of college. Working your way was nice to be able to work from home, either temporarily (snow days) or permanently. Medical, dental and 401k benefits were nice, but not better than other companies. Few good people who know how to improve brands/company, but are honestly too good for BNP and should move onto better things.

    Cons

Very boring atmosphere and industries. There wasn't much room to be creative. Cliquey departments that don't communicate well with each other, yet all seem to think they are the most important, essential aspect of the brand. Salary was pathetic, and employee turnover was embarrassing. Every few months someone either quit or was let go. Not a lot of interaction of brands bouncing ideas off of each other but attempts were made to co-mingle to do so. 2014 was first year in a while there were any Christmas bonuses, but it took discontinuing 5 brands to do so.

    Advice to Management

Make a concerted effort to lead/work together with the worker bees or they will fly away. Spend more time finding right people during the hiring process than trying to add so-so people to fill a space quickly.

I have been working at BNP Media full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

There is a flexible work schedule, which is great for a work/life balance. The health benefits are pretty good as well.

    Cons

There is no structure for departments, which creates a complacent attitude. There is no accountability for actions most of the time, which also leads to very little innovation and new ideas. Not much room for advancement in certain departments. Salary is not the worst, but also no opportunity to increase it significantly. High turnover.

    Advice to Management

    Start doing performance reviews.
