    I worked at BNP Paribas

    Pros

Colleagues were nice, working hours were reasonable, food in canteen was cheap and good, there were a lot of benefits

    Cons

The pay was lower than many of its competitors, employed too many interns with no intention to convert them to full-time staff

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Increase the pay to attract and retain top talents, make the workplace more international

I have been working at BNP Paribas

    Pros

The majority of employees are smart people
    Training for interns
    Good HR
Compensation is in line with the industry

    Cons

    Long hours
Bad management (depending on the team though)
Absolutely unclear recruitment process after an internship
Interns are not really involved in the real projects

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    More flexibility

    Doesn't Recommend

    Approves of CEO

I worked at BNP Paribas as an intern (less than a year)

    Pros

    - you learn a lot about the financial world
    - you learn about big companies internal politics
    - good training opportunities

    Cons

    - too hierarchical
    - interns are not well considered
    - interns do not belong in teams
    - bad working atmosphere

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make the words become facts. You say interns are very important but you do not include them in teams and treat them like they are nothing. If the teams ate together for lunchtime it would be a good start...

    Recommends

I worked at BNP Paribas as an intern (less than a year)

    Pros

Very good experience that taught me how to be independent, reach objectives, take responsibilities and learn about the banking industry.

    Cons

Very big company that did not seem to have any social events. Everyone seemed to be by themselves.

    Recommends
    Neutral Outlook

I have been working at BNP Paribas full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

    - Work Life balance OK if not on front office roles & General Inspection
    - Most managers respect employees
    - Realistic deadlines and objectives in business as usual
    - Well located in Paris
    - Pay is quite good if well negotiated at entry

    Cons

    - Too much salary gap between the old ones who got in during the golden age of banking and the 20 something
    - Difficult to go up the ladder since the bank fires almost no one thus the drawback is lack of opportunity
    - Salary increase without inflation won't go above 1% a year even with excellent evaluations, except if on front office role on a booming business

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    - Cut the > 50k bonuses of not so useful people and motivate the young ones with the cash

Former Contractor - Anonymous Contractor in Paris (France)

I worked at BNP Paribas as a contractor (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Interesting work, pleasant general atmosphere, very reasonable hours. The company offers some training to contract workers, but any perks are reserved for full-time employees.

    Cons

Contract (or "external" workers, in company parlance) are treated as if they're invisible not only by management but by full-time employees. Important information is poorly disseminated to contract workers, even when it's vital to the completion of the job.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Contract workers are people too, with needs and questions. Management refuses to engage in conversation with contract workers as a way of ensuring the line between in-house and external is not crossed. This "wall" makes interaction difficult, if not impossible.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Neutral Outlook
    No opinion of CEO
