ProsGreat working environment. Flat culture. Great working hours.

ConsSlow pace. IT support system not as robust. HR support for claims are difficult to reach.

    Glad to be out

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)
    Chicago, IL

ProsBNP Paribas bought us, lied then dumped us and treated the Chicago office like the red-headed step child. The whole experience was very disheartening overall.

    ConsThe vacation policy was generous.

Advice to Senior ManagementI felt there wasn't any management that cared. To ask for help or clarification with the positions we were left with was pointless.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend

Ok IBD internship in HK but underpaid and just pitching all day

    Financial Analyst (Former Employee)
    Hong Kong (Hong Kong)

ProsHrs are really good compared to other banks. But be aware that working in smaller teams means lots of tasks during the day as opposed to reading the news...if you know what i mean.

ConsNot much technical work to be done. Just pitching, pitching, and pitching...To be honest, not many banks in HK do much modeling work anyway...Oh btw they have piratically no deal happening..and seriously underpaid.

Great place to work if interested in markets

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsCollaborative nature, fairly flat structure at the office I worked at. Decent hours and in general very knowledgeable people around.

ConsThe higher up you get the more the need arises to speak French. IT infrastructure is VERY bad, the non-investment departments do not seem to be very flexible/helpful most of the time.

Advice to Senior ManagementImprove IT infrastructure!

    Underperforms its potential

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsGlobal opportunities and a wide range of product offerings. Some very talented people in various parts of the company. Reasonably well-known name, especially in Europe.

ConsVery poor management, especially senior management. Cannot conceive of a world outside the cozy club of French finance. The whole is much less than the sum of the parts. While there are some very talented people, they don't run the company, unfortunately.

Pros- company encourages people to take opportunities to work in every corner of the world
    - pays for and encourages people to gain extra qualifications for career development

Cons- not a "part of one family" culture.
    - poor communication between teams.
    - too many levels in its hierarchical management structure makes employees feel disconnected from senior management and thus the firm

Advice to Senior Management- invest more in employees
    - improve communication between employees and senior management
    - bring back a "team" environment
    - bring back even the most simple perks e.g. free FT newspaper

Selling products at the expense of clients' interests

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsRelax European working environment, long holidays, short working hours and very little support from both top management as well as supporting staff.

ConsBonus has been shrinking ever since BNP acquisition. There has been continuous restructuring of org chart and investment process and style, which create confusion both internally and externally.

Advice to Senior ManagementReduce hundreds of reporting lines and layers, which has been increasing ever since the acquisition. Pay bonus to give incentives to staff and do hire headcounts so to reduce the workload of existing staff instead of just maximising profit for top management and shareholders, at the expense of clients' interests.

A bank for work life balance than for growth

    Associate (Former Employee)

Proswork life balance is great. Perks are really good. A nice place if you want to do something other than work as you get to leave on time

Constoo much a french organisation. Not multicultural envirnoment. Also growth opportunities are there if you put a many number of years

Advice to Senior ManagementCan be more multicultural. Can have better review in regard to training and retention of employees. the employee stock option is really good.
