I have been working at BNP Paribas full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

    - Work Life balance OK if not on front office roles & General Inspection
    - Most managers respect employees
    - Realistic deadlines and objectives in business as usual
    - Well located in Paris
    - Pay is quite good if well negotiated at entry

    Cons

    - Too much salary gap between the old ones who got in during the golden age of banking and the 20 something
    - Difficult to go up the ladder since the bank fires almost no one thus the drawback is lack of opportunity
    - Salary increase without inflation won't go above 1% a year even with excellent evaluations, except if on front office role on a booming business

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    - Cut the > 50k bonuses of not so useful people and motivate the young ones with the cash

I worked at BNP Paribas as a contractor (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Interesting work, pleasant general atmosphere, very reasonable hours. The company offers some training to contract workers, but any perks are reserved for full-time employees.

    Cons

Contract (or "external" workers, in company parlance) are treated as if they're invisible not only by management but by full-time employees. Important information is poorly disseminated to contract workers, even when it's vital to the completion of the job.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Contract workers are people too, with needs and questions. Management refuses to engage in conversation with contract workers as a way of ensuring the line between in-house and external is not crossed. This "wall" makes interaction difficult, if not impossible.

I worked at BNP Paribas as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

Holiday stipends, cheap canteen, Holiday packages. Good salary prospects, even for interns. I have heard of bonuses for interns staying more than a year, at least.

    Cons

Not enough responsibilities for the interns, making it a very monotonous job... Only little by little one gets to be given more work, but at a very slow pace. One wouldn't learn as much as expected

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

To get closer to their employees. Organization a bit too hierarchical. I have only seen the manager a few times, and interns were all put aside of the full-time employees, so one wasn't feeling as being fully part of the team.

I worked at BNP Paribas as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

Good compensation, friendly environment with much attention paid to the development of the intern, all coworkers very accommodating and knowledgeable

    Cons

Due to the amount of interns, it can be difficult to separate oneself from the pack. few other negatives to mention

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep on incorporating the intern social programs that help interns adjust to the culture of working full time within a corporate bank

I worked at BNP Paribas as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

The best reasons to work there are : work-life balance, good traning, daily following, full integration in the team and missions, doing real work.
Interview : normal interview, you take a finance-math test and if you are succeful you take an interview with 2 or 3 of the team members. 40min-1h with each.

    Cons

Some of the chalenges that I faced while I was working in BNP Paribas in paris were the important missions I was assigned to do.
I spent 6 months there and I think I learned a lot about banks, front office.
