I worked at BNP Paribas full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Normal hours and you even get OT pay as as AVP, and the benefits are top notch - great medical plans, plus 30 days PTO.

    Cons

Quick to move jobs to Montreal, Canada to cut costs in NYC.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop playing favorites and actually listen to people who have a normal head on their shoulders and can actually think, not just be your best friend in the bar after work.

I worked at BNP Paribas full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    Benefits
    Pay is average
    Most people are nice

    Cons

US Equity management has no clue what they are doing. None.
    Too much politics
Too much dependence on French to run US biz.
No commitment to US biz, all flow is driven from internal sources not clients.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Scrape off top two layers of US GECD management and you might actually grow the biz.
    Invest in new technology.
Invest in the US or close it down.
Hire management that actually has talked to clients.
HR is a mess, too protective of own jobs not the employees

    Doesn't Recommend

I worked at BNP Paribas full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Overtime + Bonus for AVP and below. Vacation and Paternity leave awesome as well.

    Cons

Great benefits lead to complacency and the bank is very slow to fire, as such you have to manage a good amount of terrible performers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Run your lean team through ops with the ability to identify and fire where necessary. Your HR department is killing your talent pool by protecting the fat.
