    I worked at BNP Paribas

    Pros

vacation, friendly atmosphere, good IT systems

    Cons

The organization is Paris-centric. The management is very risk averse (and in some departments has no clue). Lastly, the bureaucracy seems heavier than in other organizations

I worked at BNP Paribas full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Quiet giant within exceptional capabilities in the US. Work hard, play hard. Many corporate benefits. Not overly generous cash compensation, but other benefits add up.

    Cons

Cash compensation lower than market, still non-US/European bias for top jobs -- though this seems to be changing. Newer focus on diversity is encouraging. Spends times on surveys, performance reviews and feedback. Definitely has more heart than other banks.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep the risk-minded focus top priority and find away to reward not only those who bring in top revenue but also equally valuable -- keep the bank from bad bets.
