Advice to Senior Management
Be more present to the staff. Listen to advice and give more productive feedback to staff. Offer more competive raises on an annual basis.
Pros
Challenging tasks with matching responsibility
Multinational environment
Friendly atmosphere
Cons
Limited career growth options
Uncertain employment situation
Lack of communication from top-down
Advice to Senior Management
More internal communication, team or bonding events, and staff task rotation.
Pros
The atmosphere is fairly laid back and depending on the group there seems to be a decent amount of younger people being hired from straight from college.
Cons
Our merit increases are delayed for 3 months this year. So that would definitely be the biggest con I can see.
Pros
Positive work environment; knowledgeable teams
Cons
Salary; Not enough opportunity for career progression
Pros
Work-life balance. Ability to tele-commute. Able to purchase an additional week of vacation. Hard to do a bad job when surrounded by your average peer. Shopping at Target during lunch.
Cons
They have a low starting salary, but tell you it is a 35-hour/week position, then expect 45 hours minimum. Although you can balance work life, this is at a trade off of job growth. Most staff are career clerks that have been with the factory for 20 to 30 years. BNYM is looking to move out of metro New York; limited future.
Pros
Get experience in asset management, learn how an investment firm works. Like all big companies, it is a going concern that has nice benefits.
Cons
No mobility, No candor from management, very political and restrictive environment.
Advice to Senior Management
Needs a "culture transplant"
Pros
flexible work life balance environment
Cons
need more career growth opportunities, promotions
Pros
-Nice core group of people - supportive work climate.
-Senior Management supportive to time off and personal committments outside of workplace
-If you possess the educational background (Masters level) there is more opportunity that allows you to avoid entry level in Asset Servicing Dep't where room for growth is limited.
-Benefit and time off package attractive
Cons
-Some Senior Management and Director level are rude to lower level employees.
-Corporate is far removed from Asset Servicing Dep't operations and Senior Management does not follow through on company principles and values
-Lack of training and career development opportunities within the organization to hone employees continuing their education
-Work atmosphere becomes complacement
Advice to Senior Management
Reach out to employees without going through Senior Management who are only going to say what you want to hear. Institute and endorse an open forum for employee feedback regarding working conditions.
Gerald Hassell is the new CEO of Asset Servicing and his company bio details how he worked up the company ladder. That opportunity does not exist in Asset Servicing or is not supported by Senior Management and Directors who go through the motions to appease corporate, but are not supportive of employees continuing their education and seeking in house training opportunities to make themselves more marketable to opportunities for advancement.
Pros
Very flexible with hours and working from home.
Cons
Not easy to get recognition and exceeds on a review. Even when you work 50+hrs a week and do the best you can.
Pros
Good benefits and time off
Cons
-Management doesn't manage
-Horrible pay
-Good/smart workers are overlooked
-Nepotism at it's finest
Advice to Senior Management
Quit being lazy and actually manage. Dispose of the weak/poor workers and pay more attention and compensate those that make this company work.
