    I worked at BNY Mellon

    Pros

for the first 16 years my management gave a consistent message and direction. promotions were made fairly consistently and for the most part based on merit. bonus were consistent with actual contributions

    Cons

for the last 2.5 years my management gave an inconsistent message and direction. promotions were not made fairly or based on merit. they were mostly conferred based on politicking and consistently not part based o merit. bonus or actual contributions

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

be more transparent on reasons why policy and strategies change. be more consistent in promotions and ratings on what work is actually done.

I have been working at BNY Mellon

    Pros

Good work life balance, flexible work schedule, vacation days, and benefits

    Cons

Almost no career opportunities, non-existent training, terrible technology infrastructure, and overly bureaucratic. The fact that there is actually a committee to oversee other committees that set internal policies kind of says it all. Unimaginative senior management that is always reacting to competition. Bloated middle management while underinvesting in products, services, and line employees that actually drive revenues.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Upgrade your tech and bring your business processes and products into the 21st century. The competition is selling cars while BNY is proud of the fact that it sells the cheapest and fastest horse drawn buggy in town. Banking is not a labor intensive business yet BNY has managed to turn it into one via underinvestment in tech and revenue generating professionals.

I have been working at BNY Mellon full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Name recognition of the company; local financial services giant; you will work with people from all over the world which in my mind is a great thing.

    Cons

Can be Somewhat too political at times; mid level mgrs are less flexible in trying new techniques.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

We can't do the same thing and expect different results.

I have been working at BNY Mellon

    Pros

Good work life balance, but feel short staffed due to constant turnover from bad office vibes and lack of good benefits.

    Cons

Super concerned with cost cutting so that promotions are rarely rewarded, pay raises are rare, and bonuses are tiny. Benefits are not that great.
