I have been working at BNY Mellon (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Big company. A lot of ability to change jobs. Innovative and high tech when they want to be. Global employer so ability to take a job elsewhere is positive.

    Cons

Slow to no raises. Reviews done on forced bell shaped curve. 5 to 6 months to replace those who leave stressing everyone left behind.

    Advice to Management

appreciate your employees and let them know. No raises low bonuses require more recognition.

I have been working at BNY Mellon full-time

    Pros

For an entry level employee, an opportunity to develop experience that could be used to obtain another position.

    Cons

There is still limited integration between the BONY and Mellon businesses, both in the people and systems, even now 8 years after the merger. Culture supports employees that actively avoid assisting other employees understand the complex systems across the Bank leading to no efficiency or communications within the Bank. Bank employees have no interest in the long term success of the Bank due to this "culture" and are either actively looking to move to other opportunities or hoping to reach full pension (at least until the ongoing plan for grandfathered employees was recently frozen). Not much to recommend this place. The only employees who seem to enjoy the work are those who have found a niche where they do not have to communicate with other departments of the Bank. Even then, compensation is low in relation to the industry.

    Advice to Management

There seems to be a disconnect between senior management and the Bank's actual reputation inside and outside the Bank, which is generally poor.

I have been working at BNY Mellon full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The Philadelphia office is modern and the hrs are typically for 7-7.5 hrs. The people there are great and very professional.

    Cons

Salary is below par but it's a great place to start straight from college. However, with experience, you are able to negotiate for more.

I have been working at BNY Mellon full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Offices all over the world; very big company and a leader in the financial industry.

    Cons

They are too obsessed with cost cutting. They fail to understand that if you invest enough in people, technology, and infrastructure, that investment will result in greater profitability. Instead, they prefer to lay people off, provide insufficient funding to get things done, and expect client officers to figure out how to spin this to the clients without revealing the truth that BNY is cheap. Raises are minimal every year. My raises have been about 1% / $1,000 a year since my company became part of BNY Mellon. Thankfully I got really good raises before we were acquired, so now I'm at an affordable income level.

    Advice to Management

If BNY really is a world leader for investments, please act like it, and invest in the company the way it's truly needed.
