Pros
good people
interesting work
flexibility of large company - lots of opportunities
family friendly
Cons
too much work makes it difficult to switch off
working across timezones difficult
Pros
Good people, trying to do the right thing, global work opportunities on some of the largest and most challenging problems in the industry
Cons
Unfair press coverage, pay levels are average for the industry, large company decision making process, high HR turnover, too many staff people and insufficient line people
Advice to Senior Management
Continue to simplify the organization, stay the course but continue to de-risk the portfolio, identify and promote managers who are trying to do the right thing
Pros
Just started but colleagues are really willing to help out to better understand the process and great opportunities to apply technical skills. Compensation is also very great and managers are people friendly. 9/80 option is also available.
Cons
All i could see for now is too much processes which could be more emphasized due to the GoM incident.
Advice to Senior Management
Will give when i have enough opportunites to understand the processes.
Pros
Good benefits and insurance, decent pay, many training classes available
BP donates $300 per year to the charity of your choice
Two personal days per year, vacation
Cons
Sluggish workplace concerning process improvement and change
Poor collaboration all around
High turnover rate
Continued "restructuring" puts many at fear of losing job at any time
Advice to Senior Management
Setting a small amount of time for employees to work on department improvements could save large amounts of time and money in the future
Stop restructuring and letting employees go, the turnover rate has made all employees uneasy and less likely to work to improve the environment if at any time they may be next
Pros
Very good working environment.
Professional bosses.
Cons
Schedule is not certain.
Not enough hours on land.
Advice to Senior Management
Get your schedules right!
Pros
BP has unlimited budget for the latest technology and software. The facilities were high quality which made it pleasing to work there.
Cons
Positions that should be filled by permanent employees are filled by contractors with little to no hope of becoming a permanent employee. Contracts are renewed on a regular basis. Many of the contractors there have been there for years with no benefits or paid time off.
Advice to Senior Management
Pay attention to your contractors. Many are quite depressed because they no there's little hope they'll ever be brought on as a bp employee. I've seen many really good employees leave for this reason.
Pros
Good work environment
Nice colleagues & atmosphere
Cons
Low sallary
Leadership team disconnected from the business
Pros
Great for a first job, training is great and the new hire support is amazing. Plus it's a oil major, so very stable and you can move anywhere if you are to wanting to chas the dollars.
Cons
Not for a young crowed, locations usually in the burbs. A lot of red tab but who does not as being a major, but after the spill it's a lot more
Advice to Senior Management
Need to encourage mobility in jobs so folks can get more exposure. Recruite more from local collage. Over all BP is a great company to work for, may be it needs to have more flexible work schedule like its partners, but again that me be in other groups then the one I work in.
Pros
Development/ growth opportunities in the states and over seas. Willingness to push the limits.Great work environment. Excellent sharing of knowledge between peers.
Cons
Hard to get some projects progressed at a pace you would like. Some of the processes can be overbearing at times.
Advice to Senior Management
Increase people resources to allow for advancement of projects at a good pace. Streamline some of the processes involved with executing work.
Pros
Great total compensation package + pension
Fair work life balance an alternative work schedule
Information sharing within teams are great
Community involvement
Cons
Heavy workload and time sensitive deadlines can be challenging
Opportunity for advancement is low
Too many changes being implemented without allowing previous organizational changes or business changes to show fruition
Advice to Senior Management
Listen to the workforce more and be receptive to real field derived feedback.
Stop making too making too changes at once.
Some business process could use some streamlining for efficiency.
Show more support to the diversity and inclusion program
