Level of involvement in your career development is high. Great people to work with - competency of top tier leadeship is at times in question.

1.Career progress, is not as fast as you would like to have
2. Have to go through pleanty of mandatory trainings/courses/roles/activities, which some times is not what you need, even when you give a strong reasons for that.
3 base pay amount has significant gap with average salary in oil industry worldwide
4 people listen to you, but not acting
5 Can not get international assigment even for short period of time

Make working in BP more flexiable, give more options, higher base pay and faster career gorwth...listen to what people wants and needs.

Good support for employees, reasonable pay and benefits, no expectation to work weekends. Provides quite a bit of variety for staff

The company changes direction every 1-2years and focus more on short-term gains than long-term value creation, also there is tolerance for systemic underperformance in some sections
Advice to Senior Management
focus on operational excellence, worry less about fads or trendy issues (e.g. climate change etc) if it had done this, maybe deepwater incident would not have happened and company would be prospering better.

The compensation was good in the beginning. And they gave you q great deal of latitude in completing assigned task/s.

The compensation was good in the beginning and then they reclassified the position and cut the compensation by 40%. Better to have an ironclad contract if you work for them.

As large of a corporation as BP is and given the unprecedented profits they're earning, there is no reason to treat employees as they do/did.

Good retirement benefits of about 15% pension + 401K match. Usually good life/work balance, you can take weekends off unless there is a pressing project deadline. Free gym onsite. Not as hectic as a bank. Politics are much easier to deal with than a bank. Management is flexible about outside responsibilities, appointments, etc.
Cons
Pay is lower than a bank. Expectations are high for job performance, and oftentimes unreasonable. Recognition for hard work is not really present. Management oftentimes gives in to front office demands without realistically assessing what it takes to meet those demands - in terms of man hours required to do the job correctly. Understaffed - employees are stretched far too thin. Market risk in Houston in the "model" risk group for BP, which means the workload and project demands are far higher than any other location.
Advice to Senior Management
Management should reflect on employee contributions and meaningfully recognize those who make the group successful. There is not a sense of long term commitment of management for employees and their growth within the company. More team building would go a long way.
