    Cons

    - Very low basic pay
    - No scope for career progression
    - Pretty much an admin role, dont expect to provide creative input

    Pros

Good stepping stone. Other staff equally dissatisfied so can bond over distrust of company - immediate teams good to work with and well-meaning.

    Cons

Constant negativity and blaming of other teams when problems occur. Very separated mentality and 'one BPP' motto is a joke. University and Professional Qualifications seen as golden child while 'back office' teams ignored, unappreciated despite ever-increased work and deadlines, and ever-decreasing quality of work-environment.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please look at how hard staff work and consider rewarding them with actual performance-related pay, or bonuses. Treat them like they mean something, and like you want them to be there as something more than automatons. And stop presuming that we're responsible for our own work satisfaction - a lot of us work extremely hard and go beyond the scope of our roles because we care about doing a good job, but see no recognition or reward.

I have been working at BPP Holdings full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The air conditioning works sometimes. Also, if I am bad at my job I know I'm safe from being fired, as there are lots of people here who are incompetent and they haven't been fired yet!

    Cons

Simply no overall strategy. An exclusive club of sychophants at the top, with no respect for the middle or lower level employees. No interest in UK students, always chasing the international money. Totally margin driven - even if an area does well one year there is no link with that area getting any more resource the following year to build on. Pay rises also well below inflation.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There is no fair distribution of either praise, recognition or appraisal ratings across the company. Please stop the fact that this company is a group of silos working independently from each other, and please let there be a proper allocation of praise for people who do jobs well, and actually have any sort of policy for people who are utterly rubbish at theirs.

I have been working at BPP Holdings full-time

    Pros

Very nice and highly competent people working on the ground
    Often well-regarded by former students
    Relatively good salary and benefits

    Cons

Very insular - only ever recruit from main competitor. Very much a jobs for the boys and them and us environment
No control over data and no sales leads
Are operating in a very mature market (accountancy tuition) and expect instant success in new markets
Constantly push to get more and more from staff without ever considering whether the new goals being set are realistic
No regard for keeping hold of talented people. Appalling rate of retention in Management roles
Management styles range from uninterested to appalling command and control
Corporate goals are not communicated. No sign of leadership
No respect for the skills that sales people bring to the table. Seem to prefer to recruit accountants with zero sales experience and ask them to sell
Often talk about having a 'solutions sales' approach but performance is managed by product and most sales people are product focused. Very unsophisticated in how they approach business to business relationships

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Communication is key
    Stop recruiting from one source
Understand the importance of retaining talented staff
Start to offer an effective management and leadership development programme
Understand that accountants are not always the best people for a job
