I worked at BT Global Services full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Really strong company from new technology perspective, broad not only telecoms but also IT services. Experienced a strong work environment and decent managers. Good pay and benefits, although car was not as expected from the original benefits package.

    Cons

I found bureaucracy difficult and hoops to jump through which where unnecessary. Really as a company I found it to be slow in terms of management response, loose connection to customer base like a behemoth telecoms company that it is. The business is loss making for a long time.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Would benefit from a more agile approach to customer engagement, less bureaucracy and more focus on the customer and teams serving them.

    Pros

Innovation and thought leadership are high on the agenda. The organisation is lean and works relatively well.

    Cons

Targets are unrealistic given how lean the organisation is.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If you want to set big targets and be ambitious then resource the organisations appropriately.

    Pros

Scale, resource, footprint, cpapbilities. Good flexible working enviourment. Good Graduate scheme.

    Cons

Poor leadership and vision, no progression path... Very limited opportunities to progress.
Run by accountants....focusing on short term KPI's, micro management, uninspiring leadership and middle management. Pay and bonuses are subject to Q change, process are cumbersome and time consuming.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be bold and execute a transformational long term vision and become AGILE!!!
