    I have been working at BUCA full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    Working at Buca can be great money. The family-style dining makes the bills higher which usually means more tips.

    Cons

    You have to work Christmas Day, and every other day around it and all holidays. We never ever ever close. They made this change a couple a years back and its ridiculous. I can promise you the corporate office is not working on Christmas.

    Coupons are out of control. They have $10 and $20 off coupons. They want to be strict about them, but let people use expired ones all the time and make the servers look like the bad guys.

    They have taken away shift meals and district managers change all the time. They definitely act like everyone is easily replaceable, even if you have been there for many many years.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Actually appreciate your server, bartender, host, and kitchen staff employees. They work hard for you. Don't act like they mean nothing for your company.

    If you make rules for coupons and lunch menus for your costumers, either enforce them or lose them.

    Good food, staff meals, friendly faces

    Cons

    Next to a Hostel so most traffic is foreigners. Management is constantly changing. Turn over rate is very high and annoying. Made very little tips. A ton of rules to follow including a "script" at every table, long lists of side work for the servers that will take hours of your time, punch in/out procedures, a ton of down time... this all made working there not worth the money.

    The place needs consistency. Try to change the restaurant around before quitting or moving on... the lack of management is whats bringing this place down hill.

    Great opportunity to relocate all over the US. Very good benefits and competitive salaries.

    Cons

    Family style is a hard sell. They over promises and under deliver on large groups often.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    DVPs don't have any idea who is competent and how the restaurants are truly run. Seeing a DVP once every 3 months is ridiculous. Buildings are in need of serious repairs.

    work hours were good, that's it though

    Cons

    regional manager threatened everyone weekly, very negative, unattainable goals, they don’t pay their bills, vendors putting us on C.O.D. or just refusing service, restaurants dirty, food overpriced, anything goes wrong you are threatened with termination. No job security. Cooks and servers struggle because of ridiculous labor budgets, high turnover, very low morale

    treat people with respect, not threats and intimidation. invest in your people and restaurants. pay your bills

    The atmosphere, the food is okay, people are genuinely excited to go there.

    Since merging with the corporate office in Orlando, the company has had numerous weaknesses and a lack of communication among their departments.
