I have been working at Babson College full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

supportive staff and environment, excellent perks and benefits

    Cons

pay isn't as competitive as it could be

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

put some of the finances towards your employees' pay - they deserve it! the benefits are great, but don't necessarily make up for the difference in pay that most struggle with...

I have been working at Babson College

    Pros

Excellent benefits and perks are continuing to increase. You have access to phenomenal scholars and academic and business resources including entrepreneurial support. Everyone seems to care about you deeply and you don't have to stress yourself out if you don't want to. You'll have opportunities to hear great speakers, see great shows and be associated with a growing global brand.

    Cons

You career growth doesn't matter. Performance is not defined- therefore your boss can do and say whatever and there's nothing you can do about it. If your role is not defined properly, you are at the mercy of judgmental and bullying mean girl grilling rooted in absolutely no logic. They talk about collaboration yet cling to their departments and complain about having to walk into another building. There is a disgusting invisible bureaucracy run by sub par talent that doesn't know how to manage sub par talent beneath them.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You do not practice what you preach. Babson is having an identity crisis over whether it's a business or a school. It can co exist as both, but of course has to be done correctly. You are failing. Administrators are not able to handle the talent of the students and instead of molding business leaders, they shoot them down in the name of "student development theory"- well in practice- these students are going to go out and run the global economy- if that scares your employees- you need new ones.

Bully boss gets away with horrendous behavior

I worked at Babson College full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

No pros what so ever.... Management did want to hear and acknowledge this kind of behavior existed....

    Cons

Although Babson states fairness and a congenial working atmosphere amongst employees, this is the farthest from the truth. They back up management when "bullying" occurs and as a result you lose your job not the "bully". So they actually employ "bullying"....
Being an educational institute you would think Management would not condone such discriminating acts of behavior. However, the "bully" can lie all about your performance and when you are given the opportunity to address these issues you are dismissed from the company.....

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

As much as you say you have concern for your employees... it is easy to speak these words than back them up.
Start practicing what you preach and listen to employees and what they have to say when being "bullied" by their boss. They are not saying these statements without reason, why would they? They can provide situations in clear depth of how this treatment played out, yet you don't want to listen.... START LISTENING, then you can actually convey the words that you have "concern for your employees" and provide a congenial working environment.

I worked at Babson College part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

All the professors and administrators were very nice and allowed me to work around my other obligations. It was great being able to work with different professors who were able to provide different networking opportunities.

    Cons

Some of the tasks I was asked to complete were tedious and unnecessary. And a some of the tasks were unrelated to their functions at Babson.

    Cons

The environment is small, and everyone WILL get to know you - whether you want them to or not. Otherwise, be prepared for a lot of new friendships and team building!

I worked at Babson College full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

The staff and faculty are what make Babson special. You will not find a more motivating, innovative, entrepreneurial culture than this one.

    Cons

The administration and senior leadership are completely toxic. You will be emotionally beaten into submission. NOT WORTH IT.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Practice what Babson preaches. The hierarchical iron fist approach to management is outmoded and driving good people away. Seek input and take it to heart - don't sink the College on behalf of your ego.
