    Pros

Fun college job, everybody is friendly, the tips are pretty good. The location is great. They also serve free food which is always a big plus.

    Cons

You don't get to chose your hours, some shifts are pretty annoying i.e 3 pm til midnight. The free food is really bad in my opinion, although some people love it.

    Pros

Great bell crew. Fun job. Great tips. Excellent job while I was in college.

    Cons

Long hours. The first management group that opened this place was terrible. If you want to advance you have to be best friends with management.

I worked at Bacara Resort & Spa part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Beautiful property with stunning views Cheap hotel rooms that are part of Pacific Hospitality Group

    Cons

8 hour serving shifts but only expect to be serving during 4 of them. The other time is spent clocking in (about 30 minutes to get uniform and walk to the restaurant), doing sidework, being FORCED to take a break at a certain time, and then having a pre-shift listening to management list off restaurant numbers. Another thing that is embarassing is the employee cafeteria. Yes it is nice to provide free food but it's sad that it's widely known around the whole facility that it's terrible food. No seriously, it's so terrible that it has given multiple employees food poisoning. Executives don't care because they don't eat there, so the lower staff suffers and risks food contamination.

    Advice to Management

5-6 hour serving shifts, cut the pre-shifts down to once a week, and most importantly LET SERVERS SERVE THEIR TABLES. Managers should NOT ever take tables and then pocket the tip for themselves. It's not only unprofessional but it is illegal.

    Pros

Beautiful grounds... Must submit 5 words for this survey

    Cons

Upper managment squeezed my managers and in turn all employees where not supported and became overworked underpaid. No support from managers. Incompetent staff not trained or capable. Draconian.

    Advice to Management

Reprimand employees when they are not doing their job. Create an environment that values hard work not the lowest common denominator.

I have been working at Bacara Resort & Spa full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

There are some good employees, and the grounds are stunning.

    Cons

Asking managers to come to Glassdoor to give a positive review is pretty classless. Corporate cuts everything to the bone. So many redundant programs and systems to learn makes you feel like a robot.

    Advice to Management

Stop the micro managing, hold managers accountable, and fire them if they don't follow though. Hire salaried managers not just 50 hourly supervisors. If you staff the place like a airport hotel, you get that quality.

    Pros

I love the people I work with and the culture. I started of and retail and quickly moved my way up. Its a great place to work if you like the corporate feel.

    Cons

The hills are intense if you are walking in heels. The offsite parking can became a headache, but its nice to work for a company that provides rides.

I worked at Bacara Resort & Spa full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great opportunities for promotions. Fun work environment and good benefits.

    Cons

Management seemed to be always changing due to several shifts in ownership.

    Advice to Management

Don't preach about lowering turnover when management seems to change every month.
