    Pros

good, loyal people who are friendly and you learn a lot about hispanic culture

    Cons

no benefits for most people, bad, inexperienced managers, low salaries, no contributions to 401k, no raises in years, long term people get canned without notice

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

value your loyal workers and train your managers better to help improve morale and retain more of the great people you have

I worked at Bailey Nurseries full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Learn about plants. Work outside. Great people (labor) working there.

    Cons

No real chance to advance. Family owned...First priority is the family. Don't care about long term employee or mid management opinion. Nepotism.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Quit making it so hard on yourselves. You know you need change, but yet take no steps to improve the climate. Good people with tons of experience (that you put time and $$ into) are flying out the door and going to competitors.

I worked at Bailey Nurseries full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Continuing education- that is about it!

    Cons

Nepotism is the general rule at Bailey's, lots of entry level and lower mid-level positions, but you need to be from the family of a friend of the family to advance.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give everyone a fair chance at advancement, and reign in some of you more out of control bosses. You have passed up some very good people for management positions while promoting less qualified persons due to favoritism.

    Pros

The general labor employees are mostly good people. Good place to start a career. Do not expect to stay long.

    Cons

The company has a disregard for the law and regulations and employee’s health, safety and well being. Do not expect to stay long very few people do.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Employees are the heart of an organization. Treat them like dirt and that is all you will have left.

I have been working at Bailey Nurseries

    Pros

I've been able to attend many classes

    Cons

No loyalty, people who have given 20 years of service equally as likely to get canned as people working there only months. No raise in 3 years (in fact many people got thier wages cut). No employee match for 401K, used to give profit sharing but not anymore.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There will come a time when you wished you had back some of those people with years of experience. It won't be an employers market forever. Experience and loyalty should count for something.
