I worked at Bain & Company full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Extremely professional team and very fast paced work. It was engaging and fulfilling working with them, and I have gained a lot of valuable experience.

    Cons

I found the hours to be quite long and interpersonal communication within the teams takes slightly more time than I would have liked.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

It's important to strike a balance between knowing how to operate things within a company, but be aware enough of what's going on "outside" to make the corresponding differences.

    Pros

Fantastic people, great company culture, extremely strong reputation and alumni network, interesting strategic clients

    Cons

Very analytical work (not suitable for some people) and occasionally, difficult clients or partners

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Partners should be more proactive in meeting younger team members

I have been working at Bain & Company full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    Pay. People. Training. Culture. Food.

    Cons

Sustainability - also not fulfilling after a point

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Specialization is the only way consulting can survive as an industry. Keep focusing on people. It's soul sucking job - that's the really big redemption.

I have been working at Bain & Company full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Consulting pros: Varied projects/tasks, professional development/exit ops, early responsibility
Bain pros: Fun-loving culture with extraoridnary team environments, private equity opportunities, true focus on results at the client level

    Cons

Hours are not bad (~60/week), but are very unpredictable, can't commit to something like a late Weds dinner with a friend. There's a lack of transparency (maybe necessary) on how activities such as staffing, sourcing, and fees are run.

I have been working at Bain & Company full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Amazing training programs for each level of employees. Very supportive culture ("a Bainie never lets another Bainie fail") - this is what sets Bain apart from its competitors. Interesting and fun colleagues with hobbies outside of consulting. More often that not you get a say in what project you would like to be staffed in. I feel I learned tons over 3 years in Bain as I worked on a variety of projects. When I was planning my wedding my manager was supportive when I needed more personal time.

    Cons

12-13 hour days Monday to Thursday, in PE cases up to 17-18 hours. Culture naturally supports men (e.g. easier for male colleagues to bond over some drinks with their boss after work vs for me, a married woman)

I worked at Bain & Company full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Bain is a great company to work for - they put a lot of effort into reviews, expectations are clear, and everyone wants to help one another

    Cons

The cons are the same as they are for every consulting job- the hours can be long, the travel can wear on you.

    Pros

I think Bain is the best place to start your career. The learning opportunities, responsibility, and executive exposure are unparalleled, and the people who work here are amazing.

    Cons

The hours can be challenging, though the firm prioritizes protecting weekends.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

As the company grows, ensure that we are preserving our light hearted, entrepreneurial culture
