    Pros

If you're a consuktant, Bain & Company will teach you a lot, give you amazing opportunities (such as, you can basically pick any one of their 51 offices world-wide for a six-month case) and introduce you to a lot of important people. If you're not a consultant, the company will still promise you many of these great opportunities, but that's all just a lot of talk.

    Cons

A very demanding schedule and pace, with employees pressure tested all the time. If you're part of "Consulting Support Services" (like me) you're just a cog in a machine. For example, consultants get "professional development" talks with their bosse every six months or so, I have my first such talk after six years on the job. Consultanst are made part of Baion's alumni network right away -- CSS staff like me will never be part of that network, even if we work here 20 years..

    Advice to Management

Be honest about the split between the consultant and CSS sides of the business, and don't over promise and under deliver. I keep hearing how having Bain & Company on my resume is "very powerful," yet in three years of job hunting it has not opened any doors for me. To the contrary, it means I have to spend 15 minutes explaining Mitt Romney (and Meg Whitman's) ties to the firm, and the difference between Bain & Company and Bain Capital.

    Pros

Most of their collaborators are super smart. They have nice training sessions where you can meet people from all their offices

    Cons

There is a strong focus on producing slides rather than adding value to the client. The results oriented vision is not fully supported by case work.
Some are still very hierarchical and this traduces in more work with low relevance for the ACs (analysts)

    Advice to Management

Lets find the intersection of Projects that we can sell and Projects where we can add value and deliver results.

    Pros

It's great to work with a lot of smart, talented, driven people. The culture of the company is great. Rarely do you encounter egos, people are generally nice, expectations are high, but your coworkers want you to succeed. And people who do good work are singled out and appreciated. There are opportunities to move around as new offices are opened or other offices in the system require ramping up.

    Cons

Difficult to maintain a work-life balance (at all levels); pay for admin staff is lower than what I've seen at comparable companies. Demands are high and control of your day-to-day job responsibilities is often low.

    Advice to Management

More opportunities for CSS staff to move into more senior roles.
