Pros
Baird and Warner is a privately held Chicago company with a long history, founded in 1855. The company has a very strong brand, with nice black and gold colors featured in their marketing. The company is very, very focused on technology, which allows both the licensed real estate agents and their respective residential clients to have very good functionality. For example, the company has licensed the entire library of the "for dummies" books and put it on line for free on their public website. Also, you have the opportunity to be a big fish in a small pond, because the heavy hitters work elsewhere.
Cons
In my market, which is Glenview, IL, Koenig & Strey GMAC Real Estate and Coldwell Banker Residential Real Estate Brokerage are by far the dominant competitors. Anecdotally, when the general population drives around town, they'll not hundreds upon hundreds of signs from these two companies. On the other hand, Baird & Warner signs are extremely scare. This is bad for two reasons. First, there are fewer prospects calling in to ask about the houses that they see. Second, clients tend to want to go with the companies that they think are more successful and judge us negatively because of this fact.
