I have been working at Bajaj Auto full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Freedom, Hand on opportunity to try things, brand name is good

    Cons

No system, no process in any department. Sales, marketing and HR functions work in isolation. HR has no clue of JD of a particular profile, they are more or less a recruitment agency. No employee engagement or focus on growth. Many decisions are not basis logic or experience but on a few senior management's gut feelings. All marketing or product decisions are taken by MD or President or R&D head unanimously leaving a lot to be desired!

    Advice to Management

Pls get relevant people(people with the know how) for relevant job especially at the top. HR should have a more proactive than a manpower supplier role.

    Pros

Good Working Environment and accommodation and fooding was provided. Workers were mostly friendly and help you all around. Working Hours were good and not too tiring.

    Cons

Commonly used language was Marathi, so there was dialect problem specially for a North Indian. Most employees were from diploma so lacked good technical knowledge.

    Advice to Management

Work on getting more technical experts rather than just employing workers. Also too much focus is on getting promotion by doing Kaizen among the employees rather than actual knowledge application.

    Pros

focussed, great opportunities for freshers, good paid job, provides good technical training, hostel facility available, good campus, situated in pune

    Cons

less chance as employee cut rates are high, focussed only on two wheelers, more footprints to be unfolded in international market

    Advice to Management

promote innovation , creativity, hire more interns, and more transparency and reach to juniors, pay hike should be considered

    Pros

R&D is a critical function of Bajaj Auto. Everything is done from scratch, its a great place to learn if you are looking at a 2-3 year gap before your masters. A lot of the companies operations are exposed to you, with very little information being lost between top management and entry level people

    Cons

Unfortunately this is a company thats pretty old, lot of people set in their ways. Bonding with your co workers is a far cry, which leads to a tense workplace. Apart from that people here on the edge all the time, owing to the work pressures, so that might take a little getting used to.

    Advice to Management

My advice would be for people to tone it down a little bit, involve a lot of people in the decision making process. And although I know GTE's also take advantage of the fact that it is nothing more than a gap between their bachelors and masters, perhaps the management could take an intitative and help people stay back.

    Pros

    Cons

Doesn't adapt to changing environment Leadership is poor (Lack of vision and mission lacking at the heart of strategy) Too much bureaucracy HR policies are not employee friendly Career growth is extremely slow Performance management is not based on performance

I have been working at Bajaj Auto full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    1. Lots of scope for innovation as long as cost of a vehicle does not increase. 2. Good Salary, good increments. 3. Free breakfast, lunch, tea, coffee (CCD machines are installed at Head Office (Pune) only i guess). Free (Count towards CTC) Hostel, swimming pool, gyms, TT, Badminton, large ground for cricket, football. One can save 85-90% of his salary if you live thriftily 4. If you join as GTE at R&D, you are considered as very valuable employee. 5. Work culture at R&D is good if you are really interested to work. :P

    Cons

    1. Inflexible time. 2. Need to work half day on alternate Saturdays. Only 1st,3rd,5th Saturday is full Holiday (All Sundays are holidays) 3. No free WiFi in office, some restrictions on internet browsing with office PCs. 4. No special employee discounts on Bajaj bikes :P

    Advice to Management

    1. GTE retention rate at R&D will increase a lot if work time is made flexible and all Saturdays are holidays. 2. Strict work time gives feeling of being forced work. Such compulsive policies kill creativity and increases hostility towards management. 3. Come out of the myth that GTEs won't work if you give them access to WiFi / social network sites or they will steal company secrets if you allow them to use their personal email on work PC. 4. Try to open up R&D the work environment. I think if these small small things are changed, Bajaj R&D will definitely be one of the best places to work in India.!! Thanks!
