I have been working at Baker Botts full-time

    Pros

relatively fair hours; somewhat of a texas laid-back atmosphere, though inconsistent

    Cons

higher than average hours minimum, passive aggressive partners, lack of respect for other human beings, high partner to associate ratio, no diversity whatsoever and no understanding or desire to understand cultural competency

I worked at Baker Botts full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

For the most part, great people to work with.

    Cons

Gross underpayment for my position, misalignment of organizational goals with departmental goals, not enough feedback on performance, rewards (i.e. promotions, raises) not consistent or aligned with performance.

    Advice to Management

Pay people fairly, treat them fairly.

    Pros

The firm has a great reputation. They provide attorneys with excellent resources. Good facilities. Many very nice people. Some of the partners are extremely well-respected around the country and are tops in their fields.

    Cons

It's still Big Law. Although not as bad as some firms, there's still a cut-throat attitude sometimes. And, of course, there's a tremendous emphasis on billable hours.

    Advice to Management

Communicate more with associates. Emphasize quality more over the quantity of billable hours. Pay more attention to good writing. And get into at least the mod-2000s technologically.
