    Positive Outlook

I worked at Baker Hughes Inteq as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

Baker kept me working even when times were lean.

    Cons

The problem is I was working over 300 days a year and I went through the promotion changes and though I completed everything, I could not get promoted so they could keep me in the field.

    Advice to Management

Reward those who work well and make you look good.

I worked at Baker Hughes Inteq full-time

    Pros

Good pay. Shift from salary plus day rate to hourly plus day rate led to higher pay when working long jobs starting in January 2014. Excellent classroom and field training. Strong opportunity for promotion.

    Cons

No Schedule. When completing a job, no matter how long it took, there was no guarantee of any time at home with family. At least 2 year commitment to a given district before eligible to transfer or take a promotion outside of that district.

    Advice to Management

Consider the long term welfare of your employees and their families when it comes to scheduling. I know that the industry can be unpredictable, but driving a wedge between your employees and their families by not allowing them to plan any time off leads to diminished performance at the job site and unhappy customers. A manager in Midland once said to his troops, "The customers are saying that it seems like they want the work done more than we want to do it." This is a sign of poor leadership, not poor employees.

    Pros

They have great drilling technology that exceeds the competition. Good work/life balance is possible but you have to show the manager he or she can trust you to get your work done when needed.

    Cons

Like any other company that deals with 24 hour drilling operations, there is a possibility of being on-call often during the weekends.

    Advice to Management

Value those who really make the effort to represent the company in the best way. A monetary reward is not always necessary, sometimes a simple recognition will suffice.

    Pros

Inteq Division is top of its class. Professional, Experienced, and Reward for Performance. Excellent tools and Logistical support. Top flight shop support for the field.

    Cons

Cyclical downturns that hit the industry. Slightly Nepotic, yet that is part of its effectiveness, a family knowing the business. Sometimes hire from the outside when talent is available within at lower levels because they are too hard to replace.

    Advice to Management

create an effective and enforced career path for great employees who are often passed over. coordinators are sometimes not qualified for their positions and wreak havoc with the seasoned hands. They are often rewarded with a higher positions.

I worked at Baker Hughes Inteq full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great benefits and overall income. Ability to advance upwards with training provided.

    Cons

Long hours and low hourly rate, just lowered day rate. 13-17 hour days for weeks at a time.

    Advice to Management

Try developing a schedule for field hands.

I worked at Baker Hughes Inteq (More than 3 years)

    Pros

My full-time employment at Baker Hughes allowed me to make friends for life by the ridiculous 7 days a week / 12-14 hour days in the field. This truly is the only "pro" of working for Baker Hughes.

    Cons

Seriously....Where do I start? If you are a family man with a wife or children or commitments at home the lifestyle as a full-time employee will forever change your life. The corporate "players" and office will talk about a work-life balance but there is absolutely 0% of this. The pay is okay but remember this is the oil and gas industry (where prices go up and down) which does not compare to any other industry in the United States. Baker Hughes has become a joke and laughing-stock in the oilfields for failed downhole tools and unreliable services to operators.

    Advice to Management

Halliburton Energy Services bought you out and a merger will take place by July 1st. Good Luck finding new jobs....losers

I have been working at Baker Hughes Inteq full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Team environment, self motivated positions with good benefits, FEW departments promote within.

    Cons

Inexperienced "Yes" managers from other divisions not working together with other departments. Hiring employees with absolutely no experience

    Advice to Management

Not all women with degrees/ certifications know how to manage a team
