I have been working at Baker Tilly full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

career progression is great, there are coaches and systems in place to help you move up the ladder

    Cons

lots of pressure during busy seasons, similar to most mid size public firms, 70 hours week close to deadlines, 60 hour weeks for the rest of the busy season

    Recommends

    No opinion of CEO

I have been working at Baker Tilly

    Pros

Some groups have a very meritocratic bent while at the same time having midwestern, hard drinking family values.

    Cons

Some groups seem to have trouble breaking out of the mold and effectively competing in larger markets. Consulting especially seems to get overlooked in strategic and organizational planning despite being 1/3rd of the company.

    Neutral Outlook

    I worked at Baker Tilly

    Pros

Financially stable, national firm - now part of decent international network (RSM). Offer full accounting services, bought all of previous RSM Tenon business.

    Cons

regional thinking firm with little national co-ordination, poor training, very conservative leadership and political in extreme. Narrow minded management style.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

be more entreprenerial in your style and management thinking

I worked at Baker Tilly full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

I enjoyed the craic in the office. Great people to work with ...when there was work to do. Plenty of time sitting around doing nothing when things were quiet.

    Cons

Uneven workload. Unrealistic expectations. Being promised things then having them taken away.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

People are not commodities. Work is but one element of life, an element that pays the bills. Snide incentives to stay always backfire (e.g. delayed bonus payments)

Former Intern - Trainee in Warsaw (Poland)

I worked at Baker Tilly as an intern (less than a year)

    Pros

No pressure, the hierarchy is not of great importance, tasks are rather individual

    Cons

As a trainee, I felt a bit neglected - what I mean is the fact that I had to ask whether there are some tasks for me. The company seemed not to be prepared for offering internships to students.
