    Pros

Good for promotion opportunities, mostly due to incompetence of your other workers.

    Cons

A lot of poorly incentivised workers who are not very good at their job.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Oh where to start. Break up the whole group then start to focus more on your people.

I worked at Balfour Beatty Rail as an intern (more than a year)

    Pros

Based in Malaysia so lovely weather, great culture, nice people, easy to have a weekend trip at the beach.
Company itself gave me a lot of responsibility so learned a lot.

    Cons

Somewhat disorganised company, not the best pay in the world for an intern.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Plan roles better and thing about rotating interns.

    Pros

Big Company but nothing for working staff

    Cons

No manager or engineer works longer with this company because of very poor conditions and little money they pay. people only come to work here till they find better Job outside.back stabbing is too much.seniors always back stabb juniors and keep them under control.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

As far as i know most people in management are their beacuse they are Brtish even they don't have any decent education or experience to hold that post. if they go in America they will even not get the Job of Tea boy.

I worked at Balfour Beatty Rail full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Opportunity to create work systems and implement ideas.

    Cons

The bosses especially the expatriates from Balfour Beatty UK expect to be treated better than the clients. There is also a lack of willingness to develop local talents technically.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Neutral Outlook

I have been working at Balfour Beatty Rail

    Pros

Salaries and benefits are very good and are generally maintained just above the market median.

Internal communications are also an area of focus therefore you are always kept up to date on internal initiatives, successes and changes in company structure.

BBR is continually addressing its safety record and looking for improvements. One of the most proactive companies I have worked for in this field.

If it is a staff position that is of interest, be prepared to commit to over 40 hours per week, particularly if you are assigned to specific projects.

There is a high emphasis on training at all levels with a structured training programme that looks good on the CV!

    Cons

    1. Internal initiatives are numerous to the extent that they occupy significant resource input drawing attention away from its core business of designing and building rail infrastructure.

    2. The company is divided into three divisions with responsibility for domestic markets in the UK, Germany & Italy. Coordination between the three appears nominal at best and the cause of much internal friction.

    3. Promotions to key positions are considered with political correctness as well as capability and experience.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Coordination is required to determine which internal initiatives are priority

Stronger management of the three internal divisions

Avoidance of appointing management positions for political correctness over ability.
