People are less valued then they were previously.

You will get to work on cool projects if you are a Engineer.

Ball is loosely a DOD/Government contractor so that provides a little be of instability in workload.

Advice to Senior Management
Your employees love working for you. Remember to remind them how much you appreciate that. Consider having Town Hall's more than once a year.
Pros
Flexible team, no training - they hire you to do work, not to teach you about the job
Cons
No training - can be hard to jump in on a new project
Pros
Ball offers excellent salary and benefits. There are consistent raises and promotions. The company has a lot of respect for work/life balance. Lots of cool projects and interesting technology to work on.
Cons
Senior management are all very complacent, and there is no real ambition to improve the state of the business. One customers has described the president as "retired in place", which is probably an appropriate description. It can be difficult to take on new roles and achieve career growth.
Advice to Senior Management
When leaders are under-performing move them out of the company, or at least to a place where they can do less damage. Give more responsibility to people with high potential. Look at all of the skill sets and technologies that are available in each of the SBU's and cross-pollinate where its appropriate.
Pros
The engineers are top notch. Incredible.
Cons
Management is pompous and delusional. They couldn't do a worse job if they were spies working on behalf of the competition.
Advice to Senior Management
Do everyone a favor and take early retirement.
Pros
401k matching and profit sharing.
Multiple benefits packages offered.
One of the few defense contractors offering a pension.
Highly competent and hard-working technical staff.
Family friendly work environment.
Opportunity to work on a wide array of technical projects with highly competent coworkers on your team.
Cons
Management is disroganized and at times disinterested in the personal needs and goals of the workers. Senior management suffers from a major lack of communication and limited vision for future opportunities.
As onsite staff i sometimes get the feeling that I'm the redheaded stepchild of the company since there is such a large population at the regional Ball office. Once you get a job onsite, your potential for promotion seems to get limited.
Advice to Senior Management
You have some of the best and most talented engineers in the business. Use their insight into new market areas. Many times your onsite personnel have their finger on the pulse of market trends in the areas you do business. Enlist them in focus groups and business development efforts in order to secure contracts.
Pros
Demeaning attitude from IT managers. Little to no effort in providing any upward training unless you are a personal friend with a manger. Constantly being told how bad of a job your doing know matter how hard you work. Managers that rely on same people being be-little to do the managers jobs. Work load increases per lay-off so employee ends up doing up to 3 other former employees jobs plus their own. Free coffee when available...
Cons
Take the pros section and multiply times 2. Management nor Dave Taylor cares about the employees as long as the ends justifies the means.
Advice to Senior Management
Start with Dave Taylor and work their way down to all the duplicate and triplicate mangers and replace them all for the betterment of the company. Because of massive mismanagement, I give this company only a few years if that, before the doors are permanently closed...
Pros
It is a great and innovative company to work for. You are working with very smart and intelligent people. Everyone is very helpful and friendly.
Cons
The aerospace industry is currently hurting due to the bad economy, and because of this Ball is having a hard time finding enough work for their employees. Therefore they aren't hiring much currently.
Advice to Senior Management
The management does a good job informing their employees and keeping people informed about the state of the company. Thanks
Pros
Benefits, education advancement, team environment, and good people
Cons
Pay is ok, could be better
Advice to Senior Management
Decent job. Try to keep your people on board.
