    I worked at Ball Aerospace

    Pros

The technologies are awesome at what they do. Very cool ideologies in what they are involved in. Some departments and management are good.

    Cons

Beware, considered a hostile work environment - especially for contractors. Management out of touch. Zero integrity, management pathetic, no value for employees, harassment policy non-existent, no recognition. Hiring policies probably violate labor laws

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Grow up and value your employees - they make you look so much better than you really are. No wonder they fired the top IT management recently - they gutted the company and the IT department.

I worked at Ball Aerospace full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Intereting work. Cool projects and initiatives.

    Cons

Layoffs always seem to be happening.
Employees that have been at the company for a long time are very cliche-ish.
I think almost everyone there is in fear of losing their jobs because several recent contracts that were awarded to Ball have not been funded.
Several high level managers have recently lost their jobs.
Major reduction in health benefits recently.
People who work at Ball that think it's really great haven't work anywhere else to compare it too. I have definitely worked for better large companies.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try to give the employees some sense of job security.

I have been working at Ball Aerospace full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Great people! Smart and caring coworkers. Projects offer exciting and challenging work. Ball's capabilities are truly amazing - large toolbox of engineering capabilities. Benefits are changing, but are better than most competitors

    Cons

Leadership has become about protecting their territory / mini-empire. Managers act like they accept input from others, but they only implement/direct their own ideas.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Aerospace is changing. Become aggressive to adapt to changing business cycles.

    Pros

The people at Ball are phenomenal! Mid-level managers all the way down to the entry level employees are amazing. I also will single out two VPs and a GM, Mr. Freedman, Mr. L. Williams and Mrs. Kilran are really great people. They actually care about the development of employees and listens to their inputs. They seek out lower level employees opinions. Business is growing. Stock prices are holding firm. Has potential to one day rival the big boys (i.e.: Lockheed, Boeing, Raytheon) but they just need to figure out and attack how to get there. If you are looking for a Masters Degree, Ball pays 100% tuition with no commitment or obligation when done with school. Really have people who truly move mountains by themselves. Last but not least, the FSO, Sheila Garland is beautiful!!!!

    Cons

If you are a PM expect to manage more programs than you can handle and receive not quite enough training. They have too many people who shouldn't be PMs as PMs. If you are in security expect to be low-balled when it comes to compensation. Take what you ask for and subtract it by $10k and that's what they'll offer you. Security Staff is overworked. Not enough African-American employees (I understand it is in Colorado). At the Director level you see the "Good Ol Boy" system in full effect!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Follow the lead of Mr. Freedman, Mr. L. Williams and Ms. Kilran and the company will grow rapidly.

    Pros

I have a great boss and love my team members. Flexible work schedule. I see some neat projects.

    Cons

A lot of back stabbers, people who have been there a long time have a self entitlement view (they're always better than you), upper management doesn't reward high talent, a lot of people gathering pay checks and waiting for retirement. A lot of talent is lost b/c there is no reward for talent. The majority of the people make you do their job.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make employees take responsibility and stop letting mediocre talent run the place.

I have been working at Ball Aerospace full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Flexible work schedule. Good pay. Interesting projects. Very nice people

    Cons

Horrible tools. Spent millions putting a new pricing tool in place that was supposed to save money and make them more efficient. The opposite has happened. The SW is so clumsy and difficult to use that it is driving costs up and causing incredible frustrations from the worker level on up to executive management. A complete disaster.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Dump the new tool and have someone intelligent pick a new one.

    Pros

Pay above-average most coworkers are friendly, flexible hours with good benefits, but the health insurance changed last year to save the company money, so now the employees must pay more for less, maybe this is what ball is preaching " more for less "

    Cons

Watch out for major dishonesty from managers and HR, they will lie to get you to accept the employment offer and to the type of work to be performed, Designing outdated equipment. Google Elon Musk's, (SpaceX) summation point on outdated technology , this is Ball Aerospace wrapped up in a nutshell, talking about nuts, look out for the long-term employees with a view of self entitlement, that will backstab at any opportunity. One won a gaggle award, "The Nut Buster", for the hardest person in the world to work with.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stick to the facts and not fabricated information and chastise long-term employees for ill actions.
