    Pros

    good benefits and profit (EVA) sharing plan, friendly employees, excellent climate and location

    Cons

    It is a who you know and not what you know culture especially in IT. If you're looking to grow in your career,look elsewhere.

    Advice to Management

    Don't think that if someone used to work in State government that they know anything about technology.

    Pros

    Great benefits. Friendly people. True sense of ownership in the company by every employee. Great location. The company believes in personal development and training.

    Cons

    Two weeks of vacation for starting employees is behind the times. Some senior level managers are allowed to stay in their positions when they are ineffective.

    Advice to Management

    Ball needs to implement 360 review process. This process would allow scoring of management effectiveness. Ball promotes based on friendships and not necessarily abilities.

    I have been working at Ball Corporation full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

    Very stable company with a long history of over 125 years. Great compensation and office buildings. The company has great benefits, most of the employees )are great, world class manufacturing facilities.

    Cons

    The company has no real corporate culture, but is trying to hang on to the culture of the past family management. There has been a great deal of turn over at the corporate offices in Colorado. The company is dominated by white males, thus very little diversity. Diversity is only a show, the Aerospace division is an exception to this rule.  The company is very fragmented, while some divisions are running well, the largest division in USA and Canada is not the place to be in. Most of the executive management in this division are new with big echos. They are more focused on changing employee base than real strategy. The finance area is the most concerning, and the entire department has turned over. The division finance and administration management are creating and seems to thrive on operating with a very unhealthy culture.  If you don't agree with management you will be fired, thus most management is new and entire departments are having high turn over in the rank and file over the last 2 years. There is too much politics within the division, that coupled with executive management favoritism and upward mobility is not possible. You can only move around if a few in management like you. There is little or no employee development and engagement, it appears division management is basically carrying out employee cleansing, based on a private agenda.

    Advice to Management

    Pay attention to what's happening to your largest division, it's management, culture and employee moral. If you don't act now this division under current management will destroy this great company from within.

    Pros

    Well funded, semi organized, stable business model as long as beer is being sold.

    Cons

    Poor MARCOM vision, typically painful IT constraints and lack of leadership

    Management is struggling to manage change and to ensure talent is well-suited to new business needs.

    Spend more time getting to know your people and their talents/strengths.

    Stable, good people, Company has been around for a long time, good (not great) benefits

    Lack of movement opportunities in the Company unless hand picked - too many politics

    Advice to Management

    Listen to your employees - let the people go that are not getting their jobs done rather than move them around - if you have identified a good employee work at keeping them

    Pros

    The pay is decent and a lot of opportunities to work overtime. All of my coworkers were great to deal with.

    Cons

    The shifts were for twelve hours a day and you are on your feet all day. In the summer the plant was hot. Several plant closings.

    Advice to Management

    Do not forget about your front line people. Benefits have gotten worse but this appears to be common throughout many companies.

    Adopt more progressive management techniques. Push to obtain top talent.
