Pros
You work here because you love it. It's great to have to opportunity to work around some of the best art collections in the world. It's a friendly environment, and the people are great to work with.
Cons
Obviously, it's an art museum so compensation isn't great.
Pros
Working with fellow security guards who are very friendly and nice. Working around great art. Working with friendly staff outside of security.
Cons
Standing on your feet for hours, not being able to sit down when the public isn't around. No chance for promotion or advancement. No raises. Not being able to report disabilities without being told that it didn't exist. Not being able to report complaints.
Advice to Senior Management
Improve ways to report employee disabilities to senior management. Allow security staff to sit when the public is not in the area. Improve supervisor's attitudes towards security staff calling out sick or requesting vacations. Improve vacation requests.
Pros
Excellent benefit package, generally same schedule from week to week, friendly staff, great pay, free parking for staff, discounts at the museum shop and restaurant.
Cons
Long hours on your feet, management could be better, supervisors could be better, need to work outside in the heat during the summer.
Advice to Senior Management
Allow guards to sit down when the public is not inside the areas, give relief breaks on a consistant basis.
