    I have been working at Banana Republic full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Designers aren't required to work extremely long hours on most days.

    Cons

    BR is not diverse when it comes to hiring. They will hire, people of color for freelance positions, but never full-time permanent positions. Several African American freelancers have worked at Banana Republic for over 2 years in the hopes of being hired fulltime. Yet, not single African American Designer works at Banana Republic. They also don't hire many American citizens either. Out of the entire Menswear Design Team only 3 are American and they tend to have the lowest positions. 75% of the Designers are from the UK . 3 out of 4 of the highest design positions are given to designers from the UK.

    Advice to Management

    For a company that prides itself on diversity you should have better hiring practices. It is false advertising to label Banana Republic an "American Sportswear" company.

    encourage open dialogue with employees regarding their futures. pay part time employees better per hour.

    Pros

    Employees are well rounded to be efficient operationally and well versed in product knowledge to deliver the best consultation for the client.

    Cons

    There is a lot of inconsistencies. It makes things harder to get accustomed to or prep for

    Advice to Management

    Work with the team on the floor to give the best feedback and in the moment coaching. Improve the training process instead of learning as you go.

    - Co-workers - Discount - Pays a little higher than min. wage - Don't need to wear the brand to work - style needs to look BR - Depending on location - management - Possibility to grow in the company

    Pros

    Flexible schedule, fast paced, challenged every day, always changing environment, discount on clothes across the brand. At times I can feel really accomplished with my customers.

    Cons

    I have to work on a lot of holidays, don't always get to plan out my schedule, some customers and staff are difficult to work with.

    Advice to Management

    Schedule farther in advance, try staffing quality instead of quantity
