Pros
Despite Senior Management sales team dedication and commitment to each other and their customers.
Cons
Working with absolutely no communication between senior management and the various divisions within the Bank; no set or clear expectations for sales performance or branding message-definitely a company with no regard for "team goals" or employee development. Coaching is defined by daily e-mails from senior management in California counting daily widgets with no regard to customer service, needs, or sales strategy.
Advice to Senior Management
Replace Vern Aguirre, he lacks communication skills and is clearly out of touch with today's banking and business environments.
Pros
Small Bank with Small Goals. If you are a conformist.
Cons
Very little growth opportunity in the bank
Advice to Senior Management
Raise the bar for your associates
Pros
Because it is still a relatively small organization, there are a number of opportunities to have your work seen and appreciated by senior management. It is not unusual for the CEO to pick up the phone and thank you for your efforts in reaching a critical goal for the company. The company's senior management does a fine job working within the relationship principals defined by management of the parent company 115 years ago as the organizational basis for how it conducts business.
Cons
Because management has a great deal of patience and a long term view of its business, some employees sometimes become frustrated at the company's patience when things that are not working as well as they could. Recently, the company made the difficult decision to return almost exclusively to its core businesses: consumer and small business banking. It was a difficult decision. But, it ws also one that was communicated extremely well by Executive Management to every layer of the organization.
Advice to Senior Management
Continue to do what you are doing with an emphasis on engaging every employee in the company with the core values that have made Popular Inc. and its subsidiaries a success for so many years. It is important that employees clearly understand the company's long term view of its business as well as the history of the company and its commitment to very well define core principals.
