    Pros

    Flexibility, Time-off was considerable, SOME leadership (mid-level) was very talented and passionate, diverse and experiences team of creatives and developers, they pitched like a $100 million agency

    Cons

    Highest-level of leadership had little to no vision for long-term goals, cutting corners was common, spending budget that didn't exist was frequent, pitching new clients took priority over maintaining/satisfying existing clients

    Advice to Management

    Long-term planning vs. short term gain strategy for the next venture will go a long way toward a different outcome.

    Pros

    The talented people and awesome clients you get to work with - the casual environment - the ability to share your ideas and know they will be heard

    Cons

    There are times when deadlines drive the business and you have to go above and beyond and work more than 40 hours - but the team working together to reach the common goal makes it all worth while.

    Advice to Management

    Make sure you remain competitive in the marketplace. If a good employee is looking to leave do your best to find out why and act accordingly.

    Pros

    -Great office in Chicago
    -Good compensation
    -Good working class people

    Cons

    After reading the previous 4 reviews, I have to say, they are all spot on. With that said, I'll add some additional points to the pro's and con's.

    1. Extremely Poor Performing President - A president's main focus should be goal setting, bringing in new business, and providing his reports and teams below with the power to achieve those goals set-forth. WhittmanHart's President has done none of the above successfully. What the bulk of the working class see is a leader ReTweeting others posts and plugging the remaining client (Harley-Davidson) on Twitter.

    2. Growth - As mentioned in the review from “Continously in Start-Up Mode”, there is no organizational growth. The last acquisition of DNA Studios, brought in tremendous talent and some great clients. But Management ruined that as well too. All of the top DNA Studio folks from Creative to Technical jumped ship or got fired from 2007-2009, as well as many clients. DNA Studios was acquired around 2007, top talent stayed for a awhile, and then jumped ship/fired and took clients and started fresh without the baggage of Whittmanhart's President's management style. In sum, WhittmanHart paid good money for talent and clients that left soon after the acquisition.

    Advice to Management

    Consider pursuing other careers, change managment style, or provide some compelling reason why you have failed miserably over the last 10 years

    Pros

    Easy to get away with expenses and corporate lunch/dine outs. If you manage a department budget, then your in luck, as you can spend all their money.

    Cons

    One client and no steady revenue. Great creative people but now have all left due to leadership issues. Top leadership left and pursued other start-ups. The current President and CEO have buried any future success of the company.

    Advice to Management

    quit your job.

    Pros

    Some of the most hard-working, decicated, sincere, people in the advertising world. This applies ONLY to the working class grades such as tech director, user experience directors, art directors, flash developers, project & account management folks. Upper management is a whole different story.

    The is only reason WhittmanHart gets two stars. Without some of the great people that work there and make work enjoyable, it would be 1 star.

    Cons

    It's a rudderless ship management is not capable of fixing. And even if fixed, the path to any destination is not evident. They are roughly a 10 year old organization that remains in start-up mode. Over the 10 years, they have reorganized (unsuccessfully) countless times. They have also changed names and bought other companies to grow the business. For example, remember MarchFirst? US WebCK? These are just some of its past failed incarnations and business purchases. Unfortunaley, with each purchase, the company has lost the bulk of accounts and projects it's acquired through the purchase. The bread and butter of the agency (and what has and currently keeps WhittmanHart alfoat) is Harley-Davidson. With little to no new business wins, Harley-Davidson sales in severe decline, and an unusually high turnover rate for employees, this ship may not stay afloat much longer.

    Advice to Management

    10 years of being in start-up mode, with no natural growth (outside acquisitions) has produced less than staggering results. It may be time to pass the torch to others who are more capable. Instead of continously hiring and firing the people that get the work done.

    Pros

    - There are some pockets of talented people. Most have left the company.

    Cons

    - Senior management is very weak compared to competitors in the industry.
    - They have been losing business steadily for the last 3 years.

    Advice to Management

    Change your senior management. The company has spiraled down hill for the last 3 years, maybe it is time to make a change at the top.
