I have been working at Bank of America

    Pros

Bank of America lives the Pay for Performance vision more than many companies due and those who have been successful can vouch so there is potential to make money and reap benefits

    Cons

Some of the challenges with the Pay for Performance model is with ensuring the tools to record the data are constantly being upgraded and relative to the line of business in which it serves

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The concept is great, I would suggest making each tool that measures an employees performance simplified andspecific to the role to maximize output efficiency

    Pros

The vacation and leave time is amazing, benefits are awesome, the work is very interesting and will always have you on your toes learning something new

    Cons

The work is extremely intense and you will definitely find yourself working long hours when you first begin with the company.

I have been working at Bank of America full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Because BofA is so big, there are many opportunities to learn new things, network, volunteer, and receive corporate discounts.

    Cons

Technology is cutting expenses. It's difficult to move projects along with resource constraints and less money available for initiatives.

I have been working at Bank of America full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Chance for advancement, good bonuses, good working conditions

    Cons

Some managers become managers through who they know, definitely not what they know. Bad employees stay on forever without being fired. Critical thinking and playing the devil's advocate to intercept small problems before they become big problems is not practiced.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't keep a bad manager on staff because they've been with the bank for some time. Have some guts and get rid of poor performing employees. Don't be so reliant on so many reports, many of which are flawed. Pay attention to how the numbers are obtained, not just on the numbers.

I worked at Bank of America full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Decent work life balance. Good exposure if you get in the right group. Some groups let you work from home. Work can be interesting, but again with such a large company it all depends on your group.

    Cons

With such a large company corporate politics can play a role. There can be a free rider problem and its hard to let someone go even if they should be. A lot of fluff work at times just to look busy.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make people responsible for their work.

I have been working at Bank of America full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Competitive salaries, fast-paced and challenging environment that can be professionally stimulating and fun; lots of great people to work with.

    Cons

Amount of work expected is often unreasonable; company recently reversed itself on its popular flexible work arrangements and is bringing employees back into offices (that don't actually inspire collaboration or creativity while at the same time putting a high expense burden back on employees); and company is often in expense-reduction mode making for a difficult work environment in which your job is very often in jeopardy.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Consider different employees' work styles and be more broad-minded and forward-thinking about offering flexible work arrangements (especially in a global company where it's often impossible to geographically co-locate teams); focus on growth and appealing to prospective customers and clients vs. always focusing on expense reductions; be honest.

I worked at Bank of America

    Pros

Bank of America provides good benefits to it's employees. There are a lot of different areas, so employees can move around and learn new skills.

    Cons

There are a lot of layoffs, so that scares many employees because they don't know how long they will have their job.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The technology funding process is flawed, and if it were given the attention it needs, then the yearly lay offs in the tech area could be minimalized.
