I have been working at Bank of America full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

discounts, global workforce, not really much else is a pro

    Cons

eliminating work from home and not compensating employees for the additional expenses to commute. Management is only interested in their annual bonus and do not appreciate direct report who performs above and beyond expectations.
If you are over 50 yrs of age, expect a severance package soon!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop wasting money on gimmicks to improve employee satisfaction and pay more attention to your associates. LISTEN to your staff. You may be surprised what you learn.

I worked at Bank of America full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Very talented people at all levels. Good processes in place. Reasonable pay and benefits. Good training opportunities. Encouraged to give back to the community through volunteering time and matching monetary gifts to charity.

    Cons

Expectations are very high, almost un-achievable. People are expected to work long hours without question. Everything is highest priority. Layoffs happen so often, employees feel like on any day they could be gone with no warning. Culture is one of making everyone else look bad so you'll look good. Promotions happen very rarely - people are brought in from outside instead. Ocassional demotions of large numbers of people to align to a metric.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need to listen more to employees who are working long hours, help to prioritize rather than encourage just working more hours. Hire more people or reduce the work load.

Working in the banking industry has its significant challenges since 2009. Those challenges largely remain.

I have been working at Bank of America full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

IT efforts are still interesting to work on, good team.

    Cons

Attrition without replacement, more demands, less flexibility.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Maintain a strategy that relates more closely to the business of banking, drop the buzz words and speak in terms of the financials with real, actionable targets.

I worked at Bank of America full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Good salary, benefits, etc. Most of my coworkers were pretty cool - very jaded, but appropriately so. I learned a lot of programming while working there.

    Cons

Cutthroat competition with my first manager. She wouldn't even share her SAS code with me after handing off a project. Horrible boss.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

They need to put a bigger priority on management training. Two of my three managers were just awful. The last manager I had was pretty solid. Tough but fair.

I worked at Bank of America full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Good pay, can learn a lot quickly and the people you work with are, by and large, bright and good people.

    Cons

Expected to do twice the work in the normal day. Management is not at all people oriented although they want you to truly believe they are. They espouse the associate survey annually and the progress they are making checking off the tasks as their accomplishments. The problem is that the same items of dissatisfaction are on the survey year after year...but no one does a year over year comparison of people's issues and whether there has been true improvement. They just remove people who speak up.

I worked at Bank of America as a contractor (more than a year)

    Pros

Some good and bad managers. Many of the employees are miserable but afraid to leave the company due to seniority.

    Cons

BAC pays contractors more than twice what they pay some employees for doing the same job. Good for me, but sad for them.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat all employees fairly and pay them fairly for great work.

I worked at Bank of America full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Paid was decent, team members where solid.

    Cons

Very limited vertical career opportunities, leadership changes every 9 to 12 months, talent ranking was a popularity contest and not based on accomplishments and performance against P4P, SLT continuously chasing latest ITL governance methodology and not concerned about stabilizing environment,
Year or year erosion of health benefits deferring costs back on employees while not adjusting salaries.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stick around for more than three years and invest in your employees.
