Get to meet a lot of new people but they require too much for paying so little.

    Teller (Former Employee)
    Hinsdale, IL

ProsThey have a lot of great benefits. As a student working part time they reimburse you for going to school. While the reimbursement process is a huge hassle, you can get a lot of your tuition bills paid off. I collected over $7000 in tuition reimbursement. I was very satisfied. You also get to meet a lot of different people. I still keep in touch with some associates with the bank and it has helped me secure other opportunities.

ConsA lot of micro managing. Management keeps asking the lower end of the retail stores to do more than what should be required. For example, they are totally trying to get rid of their bankers so they are forcing the tellers to learn how to open accounts, close accounts, create wire transfers, etc. That simply is not a teller's job. They are also trying to eliminate tellers. As a teller I was required to tell the customers about our ATM's which can do deposits, withdrawals, etc. So basically I was getting paid to tell customers not to use tellers for their transactions but to use the ATM.

Advice to Senior Managementdont micro manage

High pressure, low integrity kind of job.

Sales and Service Specialist (Former Employee)
    Naperville, IL

ProsPay was pretty good and the benefits were great. Schedule was only kind of flexible as long as you weren't asking for much.

ConsCorporate greed at its finest, If you decided to check your soul at the door, you could be successful. There is no room for morale integrity here.

Advice to Senior ManagementOpen up a bible.

Too big to function... but ok place to work (depending on your manager)

    GCIB Risk (Former Employee)
    Chicago, IL

    ProsDecent pay

Mobility options encouraged throughout the company

    Some awesome managers

ConsSome terrible, horrific managers - watch out for those

Not always paid for performance (even though they say it is)

Terrible IT systems that need to be updated (still working through past mergers and not enough investment)

Hard to be promoted past a certain level (waiting for seniors to move on or die...)

Lots of redundancies - job security is poor. I've seen some awesome senior level people who have been there for decades let go.

Advice to Senior ManagementInvest in your IT.
