I worked at Bank of America full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Pay was Ok, loved the majority of the people I worked with.

    Cons

Extremely Understaffed! Our banker team went from 4 to 1 banker! That 1 banker was me and our branch was pretty busy. If management doesn't like you they will push you out anyway they can. Don't trust HR they say things are confidential but they are really not. Your sales don't matter even if your are number one in the district like I was they will still micro manage you. This was by far the most stressful job I ever had!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop overworking your employees. The way these branches are staffed is horrible for customers and your workers. Most of the people who loved working there at one time. Hate working their now.

I worked at Bank of America full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Met some great people while working there.
    Customer service experience

    Cons

    Management only cares about sales.
The reason lines are so long at banks is because tellers have to convince you to sit with a banker and open some other product.
Tellers are supposed to be about customers not about sales.
Understaffed banks feels like your doing the work of three people.
Supervisors who think micro-managing is the only way to get things done.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't focus so much on sales, focus more on customer service.

I have been working at Bank of America full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The pay was good, most of the co workers were really nice, customers for the most part were nice.

    Cons

The technology used was old, the bosses micro manage so much and were jerks, understaffed, bosses only looking out for themselves and how they look to higher ups. My Part time job felt like a Full time job and I had nightmares sometimes.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I believe that good management comes from helping your staff grow and trust you. If you teach your staff how to work well together and sales go up great, if you staff is doing their jobs and sales arent going so well ALSO GREAT. At the very least they are trying and the sales will come as long as the team doesnt feel like the banks failure is theirs and theirs alone. A totally stressed staff will only further send you down the rabbit hole. Learn how to deal with your staff, not everyone reacts the same way to demands.

I have been working at Bank of America full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Flexible hours and work-from-home arrangements. Relatively easy to move to different projects and teams. There are many interesting technical problems to work on.

    Cons

A lot of red tape and bureaucracy. It can take a long time to get things done. Poor performers are kept around. Compensation and benefits aren't terrible, but they're also not great.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Reward your best people more, and aggressively replace the worst performers.

I have been working at Bank of America full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Pay, benefits, friendly coworkers, great training programs, good experience. Tuition reimbursement. Upward mobility is easy if your dedicated. Well respected company

    Cons

Too many changes in short period of time. Is short staffed, even though upper management says different. Management not on the same page which makes employees just unstructured. Ultimately it's the people at the bottom paying for these changes.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

It's a business, yes I get that, but you are over stressing your employees.

I worked at Bank of America part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

They have a lot of great benefits. As a student working part time they reimburse you for going to school. While the reimbursement process is a huge hassle, you can get a lot of your tuition bills paid off. I collected over $7000 in tuition reimbursement. I was very satisfied. You also get to meet a lot of different people. I still keep in touch with some associates with the bank and it has helped me secure other opportunities.

    Cons

A lot of micro managing. Management keeps asking the lower end of the retail stores to do more than what should be required. For example, they are totally trying to get rid of their bankers so they are forcing the tellers to learn how to open accounts, close accounts, create wire transfers, etc. That simply is not a teller's job. They are also trying to eliminate tellers. As a teller I was required to tell the customers about our ATM's which can do deposits, withdrawals, etc. So basically I was getting paid to tell customers not to use tellers for their transactions but to use the ATM.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    dont micro manage
