I worked at Bank of America full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Some benefits, some nice employees, not many pros in working for a bank with the worst reputation.

    Cons

Management is terrible, useless, widespread nepotism, employee morale is the worst due to job insecurity and constant layoffs, no communication between departments. Bank has a well deserved bad reputation. Too many levels of useless "management" and too few people doing the actual work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get rid of your many levels of high paid and useless managers and keep the true workers employed instead.

I have been working at Bank of America full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Great benefits. My managers have given me the chance of a good work/life balance.

    Cons

Can sometimes be difficult to cross train and take courses in order to advance your career. Simply because most areas tend to be very busy.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give your teams more of a chance to go outside their respective areas to learn new things at the bank.

No Work/Life Balance - Little value placed on taking care of employees or customers

I worked at Bank of America full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

    Good networking opportunities.
All the promises they make sound great! (It's a shame they don't follow through)

    Cons

Little to no career path from the banking centers and upwards
Bank Managers have very little autonomy and very little support
Not customer OR employee focused as they try so hard to portray

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Inside corporate structure comes across very fake with those who can fake drinking the company "Coolaid" the best getting the accolades and advancements versus "doing the right thing". Bonus structure is typically made out of reach so you end up feeling like a failure with impossible to reach goals. Goals are heavily tied to customer feedback but you don't give the banking centers nearly the hours needed to accommodate the needs of the customers, nor the tools to be able to really help the customers in the way they need help. The vast majority of centers are old and embarrassing to welcome customers into.
FAR TOO MUCH EMPHASIS ON SELLING WIDGETS VERSUS DOING THE RIGHT THING FOR THE CUSTOMER (no matter what you say, your actions and senior market management do not reflect this)
Having employees sit on the phone for hours trying to resolve customer issues while being transferred numerous times to "the right department" is embarrassing and a reflection on how little support the banking centers have.
THE ENTIRE MORTGAGE DEPARTMENT IS AWFUL!!!!!!!!! MAKES YOU NOT WANT TO ENCOURAGE THE RIGHT FINANCING OPTIONS FOR THE CUSTOMER BASED ON THE EXPERIENCE YOU KNOW THEY'RE GOING TO HAVE WITH IT.
Salary's are not a fair reflection for the time you expect your managers to commit to working, sacrificing their personal time.
WAY TOO MANY conference calls about nothing. Micro-managing beyond reason. Lots of people in this company like to speak to hear themselves speak without adding any value and wasting everyone else's time.
