Pros
Collaborate, Social, Great Work Environment, Young.
Cons
Large company, may get lost at times.
Advice to Senior Management
Offer more programs for employees to be recognized and network. Holiday parties and others for employees are great for bonding and making the work place a great place to work, which in turn increases productivity, loyalty, and quality.
Pros
The only limitation is self and the ability to network and grow from within. All cards are on the table if you are driven and have a goal in mind.
Cons
Being on the tech side of the house is a very thankless job. Management only cares when things don't work, then all hell breaks loose. On the other hand tech jobs will last much longer than any Project related jobs so the tradeoff might be even. I am sure this is the same anywhere else.
Advice to Senior Management
Learn how the buisness works better than the average person. Making decisions from 34k feet is a waste of time.
Pros
Bank of America offers a great tuition reimbursement program which allows those who are in colleges some extra money. They also offer some scholarships as well if you apply to them and qualify. They provide really good health benefits as well as workshops for those who need to brush up on they professional skills.
Cons
Well the downside of Bank of America is the lack of growth opportunities in term of the associates who have work there for a long time. There's sometime favoritism amongst upper management which will hinder the opportunity for those who are trying to get up the corporate ladder. But then again, its corporate so you gotta do what you gotta do.
Pros
BENEFITS! Which include a good health/401k/pension plan and a big plus, tuition reimbursement.
Cons
There are so many! Mostly, it's hard to move up. It is truly a "who you know, not what you know" type of environment. When there are postings for a position that is a step up in the department, management already know who they want but they open the position for others to apply because they have to....this is a waste of time. You tend to see people promoted that do not have the skills or knowledge for the role. Sadly, it happens way too often. Don't get me wrong, on occasion, you'll see someone move up that is truly skilled but it's rare and those people tend to jump through many hoops to get there.
I work in a call center environment. I thiink that goals are not reasonably set. The company says they are customer-centric and that their satisfaction is very important. However, AHT goal is set so low that I feel that it is a rediculous goal to truly achieve customer satisfation. Reps tend to rush their calls to reach goal but at the cost of quality. Sales goals are also a huge negative. If a customer is expressing inability to pay, how are reps still force to try to sell? In todays environment, cross-selling is expremely hard especially since people don't tend to call unless they have an issue or are extremely upset. Ask yourself, when was the last time you called about your deposit accounts, credit accounts or mortgage?
Management....well that's a coin toss. I've had great and terrible managers. Selection really needs to be better....but that is what happens when you promote people for the wrong reasons.
Advice to Senior Management
Truly get to know who you are promoting. There are people who work very hard and are extremely knowledgable that are over looked everyday.
Make goals reasonable and insync with the current economic environment.
Pros
Good benefits. No real physical labor.
Cons
Full time oppurtunities are scarce.
Advice to Senior Management
Less full time possitions and more full time.
Pros
The benefits are great with no pre-existing waiting periods. The pay is not bad for the work I do.
Cons
When you work in the back office it feels like you are just a number, not a person with true talents.
Advice to Senior Management
Cross training employees more will give them better value to the company. There needs to be room for growth and I don't feel that my position can go anywhere.
Pros
Good Benefits such as the vacation
Cons
Politics are still apparent in the company
Advice to Senior Management
Too many Chiefs
Pros
The benefits and pay (depending on position) are some good reasons to work for Bank of America.
Cons
Too large, sometimes you're just "another number".
Advice to Senior Management
Have more qualified managers directly supervising front line employees.
Pros
Two weeks paid vacation, Banker Holidays, Benefits for part time, Flexible with school schedule.
Cons
Standing up all day... even when we have chairs that we aren't "allowed" to use. Lack of professionalism between management, Constant pushing to sell products that most customers aren't interested in, lazy and unprofessional banking center managers that are barely there and are extremely incompetent, false promises on promotions and transfers, and most importantly TOO much work for TOO little pay.
Advice to Senior Management
Give employees exit interviews, Market leaders need to watch and manage their managers, pay raises, CHAIRS, appreciate the employees that have to put up with the public all day.
Pros
Bank of America offers great benefits and moving up the corporate ladder is possible. Depending on the manger working for the company could be very pleasant.
Cons
They did not like to pay overtime but expected people to work extended hours. The salary is lower compared to other banks.
Advice to Senior Management
Management needs to be better trained. One time I had a manager of cash operations that did not know anything about his responsibilities.
