I worked at Bank of America full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Great company and benefits. Online learning, constant new issues to keep the the job interesting. Good communications with other IT depts. Great people.

    Cons

To achieve some results, not all, there seems to be a lot of steps to go through to get what you need done. Bank of America is the largest company I've worked for so it may be just my perception.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I worked at Bank of America full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

BOA is heavy into tech and automation. If some process can be automated, you can bet that they will do it even if someone doing that job can point to aspects where it will harm the customer in the long run.

    Cons

Most of the managers I interacted with seemed to prefer to not interact with their reports unless there was a problem. Little or no chance of promotion in most areas (it was a lot of the "someone has to die or retire" mentality). If you wanted to move into an area where there might be more growth opportunities, you were on your own to network and get the training you needed. Your manager was most likely going to be in a meeting. Also, BOA seems to be trending towards "buzz words" and terms rather than action.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take care of your people - they are your most valuable asset.

I have been working at Bank of America full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great Benefits: Health, Dental, 401K, Discounts, Employee Rates, Tuition Reimbursement

    Cons

Relatively low pay in comparison to the other large banking companies.
Schedules sometimes make the work/life balance a struggle
Pay structure/band levels make it impossible to make a living at the bank unless you are in upper management

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Increase employee salaries so you can reduce the employee turnover rate, which seems to be much higher at BAC than other large banks.

    Pros

Your fellow co-workers made work tolerable.

    Cons

The quality of employee's dropped along with the pay. They became the Walmart of banking in my opinion.

I have been working at Bank of America full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Great people, good meaty work should you be proactive and find opportunities to change culture

    Cons

Too often we do not stick to our approved initiatives and change direction too often. Performance must be off of merit and not relationships.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

More research needs to go into what decisions are made and then stick with it rather than moving to something new in the first signs of trouble. Stop reorganizing every six months, too much time and money is wasted in this process. Layoffs are a common occurrence and distract from work needing to be done only to staff up a year later.
