Pros
Benefit package makes the job appealing
Starting at a teller position, its a great stepping stone for other opportunities
There is opportunity for advancement
Cons
Turnover rate was high
Highly structured company, micromanaging
Tellers are underpaid for the work they do
District managers were not personable.
Advice to Senior Management
Encourage career advancement as well as life advancement. Banking center managers seemed to be stretched as they were required to be at the center outside of their normal 40-45 hour work week. Stressed and stretched managers are not beneficial to the productivity and success of the entire banking center.
Pros
Competitive pay
Decent benefits, sick time, vacation
Repectable employer
Tuition reimbursement
Excellent job for developing time management, multitasking, and systems knowledge skills
Cons
Cliquey
Promotions to the incompetent and "Yes" sayers
Focuses on average call time instead of quality and accuracy
Additional incentive/bonuses/addiitional wages are very difficult to obtain unless you follow the first two cons in this section
Advice to Senior Management
Please promote qualified associates to fullfill new roles and to boarden their career path. Don't live in fear that someday that individual my be above you
Pros
Help people and try to find resolutions for their concerns. to resolve any issues and concerns coming from customers and finding out the reason of its causes and advising the best available options and resolutions for their concerns
Cons
Misscommunication through cross-departments divisions. and sometimes no good custumer service in terms of monitoring, analyzing and reviewing data or terms of a final desicion to verify if there are any discrepancies or errors related to any process
Advice to Senior Management
Divisions and departments should have more interaction to find quick resolutions. if there is any concern or any issue from a customer associates have to find the best available option and sohw confident information which work best for a customer’s situation.
Pros
You get an excellent benefits package (when you are allowed to use it), and working at Bank of America teaches you everything you need to know about working in Corporate America.
Cons
Bank of America promotes based on favoritism, hides relevant news from their employees until they are forced to tell them by the mainstream media, and managers in some departments are very strict about allowing you to use benefits (even scheduled vacation days), often targeting associates for termination for no reason.
Advice to Senior Management
I would recommend that the Bank of America leadership stop focusing only on making money and take the time to listen to their employees and customers to find out how bad of a job they're really doing. This type of honest retrospective is the only thing that may possibly save them from failing as a company.
Pros
Pay
Benefits
Schedule
Work/Life Balance
Tuition Reimbursement
Federal Holidays
Banking Discounts
Monthly Birthday Celebrations
Lead Manager over my department was awesome!
Cons
Culture
Gossip
management
High Turnover
negative atmosphere
I felt extremely uncomfortable most days. I always felt as if I was being judged by everyone.
Advice to Senior Management
Learn to appreciate and work with the employees that you have. Don't make everyone feel so expendable. This is important if you wan to keep great people
Pros
I think that the benefits and stability are very good
Cons
It takes a long time to get promoted
Advice to Senior Management
Recognize that activity does not equate to productivity (lots of meetings at the expense of working on tasks)
Pros
Pros? Well, you get excellent benefits if you've got kids. Other than some of the "benefits", it's really a joke.
Cons
For the most part, this applies to the call center environment.
-When you need time off, they b++++ and moan about it. If you're a band 8 or 7, not a big deal. But for whatever reason they preach you are a manager at a 6, but if you aren't specifically managing a team, and taking escalated calls all day, they treat you like a pawn.
-Hypocracy, and lies.
-Mirco-management in most managers. I've only had one that was relaxed.
-The pay is a joke for what we deal with. 16-17 an hour for taking escalated calls, when people are pissed, plus to be micro-managed, come on now.
-When we do get coaching, they preach that it's to help you, however they only cut you down.
-God forbid that you are sick. If you leave one day, feel good the next and then the day after are terrible, they give you two occurrences for it, and you only get 5 throughout the year before they discipline you.
-No recourse for horrible management. No matter how horrible they can be, so many times they kiss more butt and stay.
-Management could work 20 years in one department, and randomly decide to come to another, and because they have 20 years in one, they think they're suitable for the other. No, because now when we have problems, who do we go to?
Advice to Senior Management
Treat your customers with G.U.E.S.T. standards. Now, try that on your associates. We are ambassadors of the bank, according to your preaching. How about you treat us with respect. I seriously would never recommend anyone, now knowing, to work here. I'm leaving as soon as I find something else. Thanks for the horrible experience.
Pros
Decent health and 401k benefits. Decent room for upward or lateral mobility and at times I enjoyed my coworkers. One more word.
Cons
Copious amounts of office politics and competition for any promotion. Low employee moral and short and frustrated customers. Two more words.
Advice to Senior Management
Stop with the BofA spirit. Train your employees on product knowledge and best practices, provide financial incentive to perform and the trust they will get the job done.
Pros
They require a lot of mandatory overtime and the benefits are pretty good compared to other places I've worked. They have nice facilities
Cons
The management has no idea what the underwriters actually do and would struggle to do the actual job. On top of that, they create productivity minimums at an even number of 10 and verbally harass you if you do not hit them.
Advice to Senior Management
Select your managers based upon their expertise. Do not hire managers from different areas of the company to manage something they know nothing about. Do not cut people's salaries by more than 10,000/yr.
Pros
Opportunities for career advancement are available but it depends on which Line of Business and what you do over at Bank.
Cons
Too big and bureaucratic. Difficult to communicate with upper management. Tried for months to connect with decision mkers regarding a new project but it was very difficult to jump through the hoops.
Advice to Senior Management
management needs to streamline internal promotion opportunities for associates specially for those who are doing bachelors or MBA after joining the organization.
