Pros
Great benefits, awesome Leave of Absence polices, 12 week paternity/ maternity leave. They are an international company.
Cons
Management overlooks talent. Inconsistent between different lines of business.
Advice to Senior Management
Set a talent planning guide that is consistant through the whole bank.
Pros
Benefits
Great on resume.
Can move within organization in different functions.
If you work hard, it does get noticed
Great people to work with.
Cons
Managers not always in the right role.
Some employees are crooks.
Not a strict hiring process
Associate satisfaction is not a priority
Advice to Senior Management
Management should focus on associate satisfaction and not be too disconnected with their own teams. They are too busy attending meetings all day and everyday that they don't know what's going on with their own people.
Pros
Benefits are great if you can get hired. On site gym, cafeteria, covered parking garage to keep the AZ sun from ruining your paint.
Cons
Dress code is silly by not allowing any other t-shirt unless it has a B of A logo on it. 30 minute lunch does not allow one to eat anywhere other than in the high priced cafeteria. Temps still working in the building for over 2 years who have perfect attendance & great performance numbers.
Advice to Senior Management
Stop hiding the fact that people can dress casual & still perform when corporate execs show up...
Pros
The benefits really can't be beat. Great health insurance, $600.00 in an HSA every year from the bank, 401k match, tuition reimbursement up to $5,000 every year. As a senior teller I get decent hourly pay.
Cons
Management is way too pushy and overly aggressive when it comes to sales. The banking center managers get treated like garbage and are expected to perform with unreasonable sales numbers. This creates a stressed manager, leading to a stressful work environment and stressed out tellers. I disagree with the sales tactics that are used in the centers. Overall, I would not recommend working in a banking center. Not enough pay for the amount of disrespect.
Advice to Senior Management
The banking center associates are the face of the bank. Don't treat us like dirt! We are compensated poorly and expected to achieve unrealistic sales goals.
Pros
Excellent Benefits - Lots of PTO - Tuition
Great Training
Salary above average
Facilities are great
Cons
Lots of Layoffs (mostly unjustified firings)
Company Under Much Scrutiny About Business Ethics
Customers Despise The Company (and you'll hear it)
Reduced Bonus's
Absolutely no support from H.R. w/ issues
No room to advance or even leave the department
Advice to Senior Management
Although there is much training given regarding 'doing the right thing', there is no practice of this by the company itself. Bank of America's customer are sure to seek banking elsewhere if this continues. There seems to be no customer satisfaction or respect and soon enough we'll all receive a severance package reading: "paid for by our former customers"
Pros
Good title to have on your resume. Large project experience. I've met and worked with some really wonderful people.
Cons
Communications within groups is terrible. Promotions and bonuses are highly politicized. Nothing ever seems to work right and dodging blame is what everyone spends the majority of their day engaged in. Everyone is miserable.
Advice to Senior Management
Just level with everyone regarding what is going on. Quit being so paranoid and maybe we can help.
Pros
Lots of opportunities to grow. Just need to be a hard worker.
Cons
Hours at times were overwhelming. Do not recommend for someone trying to balance Live more than work if they want to advance.
Advice to Senior Management
Keep it the way it is.
Pros
Great place to work! Have met some great people that I will call friends for the rest of my life! The compensation can be very good. There is great opportunity to grow and move up. They have a very good mentor program. very understanding when time off is needed to take care of family.
Cons
hours can be very long. Need to watch who you say t hings to. 1/2 lunch is to short to go anywhere. rewards and recognition has been taken away. It was a very wonderful program.
Advice to Senior Management
get to know your employees better.
Pros
Bank of America is a gret place to be during the current economic siuation. Long term benefits are great. Depending which banking center you land in, managers are willing to hear your opinion and work together, no matter what their position is, in order to create a wonderful and organized work enviroment. However, I cannot say the same for upper-management.
Cons
Being one of the biggest banks, yes, we have had tons and tons of cut backs, including cutting back employees and a hiring freeze. They are doing away with a lot of employee recognition programs which made me proud to work for B of A in the past. It seems as through they are moving away from giving a damn about their employees, to being focused solely on force feeding products to customers. Yes, we understand that customers are suffering during this time, but employees are too. It seems as though all the joy has literaly been sucked out of this place and replaced with fear of keeping your job and meeting your goals. They straight up told us that if you don't meet your goals, you're the first to go. And that's supposed to make you feel good about waking up and going to work each day? There;s more to a bank than just selling products to each and every customer that they don't need or can't affrord . What about service?
Advice to Senior Management
Make goals which are attainable, not impossible for all employess of the bank to achieve.
Pros
number of potential clients, deposits
Cons
management is to concerned about counting tickmarks. Computer systems are horrible compared to my peers firms. compliance is a nightmare
Advice to Senior Management
quit counting widgets to justify middle management. upgrade systems
