Pros
Big company, good benefits, some talented people.
Cons
Big company with lots of fat. No accountability or consistency in loan processing centers. Management doesn't support their most valuable asset (their people). Rather the focus on shareholder benefit and extreme profitability is too high a priority (b/c senior management holds stock options, where most individual contributors do not). Management has an entitlement attitude - from National to Regional to Local - and believe that their job security is most important.
Advice to Senior Management
Listen to what your top performers have to say about management. They are the people that care the most and will be brutally honest. Then, take action based on the consensus. Don't allow mole hills to turn in to mountains. Rather, focus 80% of your time, money and resources on the top 20% of your people that drive 80% of the business. And everyone will be rewarded with being surrounded by the best and brightest. When you focus 80% of your time on 80% of the people, you lose the best and the brightest. Keep Ken Lewis and the rest of senior managements egos in check. Being the biggest doesn't always mean being the best.
