I worked at Bank of America

    Pros

The atmosphere and opportunity I was given to grow and advance taught me a lot about leadership and learning new things. Thinking out of the box to improve processes is a must to maximize efficiency.

    Cons

Minimal staff with management changes sometimes put a strain on work atmosphere and associates. Work hours sometimes were long and 6 days a week.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Look at the big picture and truly understand the workload and processes of the team.

I have been working at Bank of America full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

A collaborative culture with good people who are very knowledgable about the business. There are good opportunities to advance within the organization if you can display a track record of demonstrated success. BofA continues to focus on building out its global capabilities to deliver to clients. A real legitimate contender to other global banks.

    Cons

As a large organization it can be challenging at times to navigate to reach the right area.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus on simplifying the organization to enable a more effcient way in delivering solutions to clients.

I have been working at Bank of America full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Lots of room for growth. Generally they promote from within. Or you can enter "The Kingdom" one of two ways, constantly apply on their Bank of America career site, or find the staffing agency that the department you are trying to work for is using for their staffing needs. Bank of America isn't on the high end of the pay-scale, but their employee benefits are among the best. Just be ready to play the corporate game, and you'll do well.

    Cons

Bank of America is always affected by the market and economy and they won't hesitate to hand out pink slips. It seems to the norm around the company.

One of the most liberal company's I've ever worked for. Very bureaucratic, and very political. Network well and treat it like a game of survivor. In the end, "it's just business".

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Upper management should realize the value of their employees and treat them as if they are a contributing part of the success of the company, not just another warm body sitting at cubicle doing as their instructed.

    Pros

The bank performs regular talent planning sessions to match best talent with strongest need and move people into roles that fit their skill sets.

    Cons

Networking is key and in order to ensure job longevity, associates must network. This is particularly challenging due to the size and breadth of the bank's associates.
