Pros
Great benefits, employee comradarie, products, pay
Cons
to many changes, I had 5 job titles in 2.5 years, still uses DOS for some software, favoritism from management toward certain employees, B o A is experiencing a lot of changes and employees often wait for information concerning there job
Advice to Senior Management
Forgot this is Bank of America not Country Wide, the whole philosophy, priorities and employee treatment has changed
Pros
to gain exp. and good for entry level to banking
Cons
hard push for refferals and sales.
Advice to Senior Management
depending who you get, some good and bad mangers.
Pros
They pay tution. Honestly its a good job to have while going to school, but after they don't care about your degree.
Cons
I have a degree from UCD and have applied for 15 jobs with B of A after graduation and have gotten turned down for all of them and I have worked for the company for five years.
Advice to Senior Management
Maybe put a little more focus on people who have degrees to make your company better and not give recognition to tattooed college dropouts
Pros
Good Benefits and there is pretty decent resources if you need timeoff for any reason what so ever
Cons
Take a number mentality hard to get noticed unless you swallow self diginity. I find it hard to shine as well as other that are very competent in their jobs
Advice to Senior Management
Look within the numbers from time to time. There are great employees that work here but hard work and great attitudes isn't the formula anymore
Pros
The only positive factor I see with Bank of America is the amount of volunteer work done by employees + financial contributions to various charities.
Cons
Management is so unorganized information changes pretty much every day. Some customers are required to jump through hoops others are not simply because the leadership groupd cannot get the policies and procedures straight. If your Bank of America customer service experience isn't all that great, it's most likely because management has the service associates going in circles.
Advice to Senior Management
Figure out what's going on before you open your mouth. Our customers are paying the price for your short comings. Check your ego. You are not the sun and the stars nor are you the moon and the tides. We are your co-workers, not your slaves, we are not at your beckon call. Work smarter instead of making rash decision that will require us work harder than necessary and do tons of overtime only to get further and further behind. Accept feedback, do not let your Napolianesque attitude make you think you are untouchable.
Pros
Develop relationships with people in the community.
Significant tuition assistance for college students.
Sales and customer service experience.
Experience in a business environment.
Relatively competitive pay for a non-skilled position.
Cons
Handling irate customers can be a pain, but try to view it as a positive because learning how to provide positive solutions to these customers will become a useful skill for the future. To a large extent, your experience with the company will be dictated by your banking center manager. If s/he is a positive person you will have a great time working for the company and on the other hand a bad manager can ruin the job for you.
Advice to Senior Management
The company has recently been taking large strides to make itself more customer friendly which makes the job of front line tellers much more enjoyable. Customers are happier which makes the workers happier. This is most apparent in the overdraft fee changes which was once a daily source of stress for both customers and employees but is now largely an isolated event. Bank of America is on the right track thanks to new leadership at the top.
Pros
Health, Medical, Dental, 401k, Stock Options. Base salary makes life a little more comfortable. 3 weeks paid vacation, 2wks paid sick time.
Cons
Way too many to list. Some of the front runners would be:
-Poor compensation plan for commission (funded units/volume, if I fund $2 million worth of new business I am only paid out $2560, seriously?)
-Horrible processing times. 90-120 days to complete a refinance. 60-90 days for a purchase.
-Poor/non-existent direction from upper management
-Schedules change every quarter.
-Most of the day is spent following up with clients apologizing for poor customer service from processors and why it has taken 88 days to fund their loan.
Advice to Senior Management
Simple. Look at my list of cons and fix them.
Because the job market is so challenging right now a lot of employers feel like their employees are expendable. That they can keep piling on work with no increase in pay or incentive. And if the employees don't like it they are free to search for other employment and some other drone will fill their chair. You can only play musical chairs around the cubicle for so long, these drones or peons are the ones that pay your exorbitant salaries for the extremely mediocre job that you perform.
Pros
The people I work with are great, but moral is really dropping to an all time low.
Cons
Management like to spit out positive phrases and comments, with no intentions of honoring it. Example: there are plenty of opportunities within the BANK. When there's a job opening within the BANK, they deny you from applying.
Advice to Senior Management
Just be honest and tell the truth. Associate will respect you more, even if it's bad news. Lying to your associates only makes them respect you less. It also give the impression that management thinks their associates are idiots. I admit there are a lot of idiot associates: unfortunately that includes management.
Pros
I loved the people I worked with and felt that there was great support for career growth with in the company. I felt that I had management support in my day to day job duties as well as with my career goals. The benefits were great and there was a good work/life balance.
Cons
I felt the salaries were not comprable to the market for senior level line employees or middle management. The entry level positions paid fairly well and the Senior Management positions seemed to be compensated accordingly, but the middle management salaries were extremely low.
Advice to Senior Management
I would recommend that they continue to focus on the career growth and support of their employees and to evaluate salaries at every level to ensure that they are in line with the market so that they do not loose good, hard working employees.
Pros
Security. During the hard times we are living in, I am fully confident I am employed at one of the Banks that will be left standing, if not stronger, when the economy turns up again, BOFA is extremely strong, and will never go under. Total job security. Also, At BOFA, it seems there are countless career paths. I have so many directions that I could choose to go into, with outstanding training in every path. BOFA is competitive, innovative, always coming up with products/ services before its competitors.
Cons
-Pay is the main one. I know I am paid comparitively low for what I do, compared to other financial institutions.
-In the banking center, they will not give enough teller hours. They put so much emphasis on customer expirience, but do not want to pay more tellers. We do not have enough teller hours.
Advice to Senior Management
Pay on Performance is not the best idea. I could work my butt off striving for excellence in the banking center, but if others don't care, it is not enough. We do not make our goals, and I don't get a bonus for all the hard work I did. Also- if you value someone enough, pay them commencerate with what they should be making. BOFA acknowledges it is one of the lower paying financial insitutions, I think that should change.
Also- be more realistic about expectations from the banking centers.
