I worked at Bank of America full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

They have great benefits and your fellow employees are easy to get along with.

    Cons

The "flexible" schedule that they require you to have and the lack of support from team leaders when you needed additional assistance (which was lacking) were difficult issues to overcome. It made your job more difficult and caused you to have to give vague answers to your customers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The team leaders should be available to the staff for assistance when they have questions which need an answer for the customers. Also, there should be more accommodations for schedule changes when emergencies arise in the employees life situation.

I worked at Bank of America full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The pay and benefits are good

    Cons

Prepare to be constantly yelled at by clients. The merger with Bank of America was a very bad decision. Clients are placed in Wealth Management without their consent and many are confused with this, even bank employees. Many clients are unaware that they have a financial advisor and want to know why they cannot just speak to a banking center rep. The banking center reps confuse clients and suggest that the client be removed from Wealth Management so that the banking center rep will recieve commission. You end up haveing to pick up the pieces each day.

You are monitored by QA, if you do not perform as a robot then you are marked down. Since this is brought up when you are reviewed, chances of getting to the next performance level can be destroyed by only one bad review. I have seen fellow employees crying in the break room due to the micro management. It is all a numbers game and not set on giving good customer service. You can have a client rave about your great customer service but have a bad call review because you did not say that you were "more than happy to help them". You need to do this in the shortest amount of time because your talk time is also one of your qualifiers. If you take too much time in your calls in order to build a relationship with customers you can get put on an action plan.

You are not trusted to be an adult. Everything it monitored from the time you enter the building.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus on making the clients and employees happy. Throw the numbers out the window and allow employess to be human beings. Trust that employees can help out client without micro management. Micro management is not management, it is borderline slavery. Happy employees flow into happy clients.

I worked at Bank of America full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Great pay after being employed for more than 3 years. Allows "My Work" which lets employees telecommute. This is a great opportunity and a valuable job perk. Salaried employees get 6 weeks paid vacation starting day-one.

    Cons

Expected to think like the clique to fit in. The department exercises Girl Power mentality. If you are one of the girls, you are likely to be allowed to stay a long time within the department and will be promoted. Poor management structure. Management does not communicate with the employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get out of your box. Get out of your Ivory Tower. Listen to your employees. Look at how you can improve yourself rather than just what you want or expect from others.
