Pros
Great place to work once you get to know the staff. A lot of career advancement opportunities. Bantrel has a fantastic training program in place for Fresh Graduates relative to other major companies.
Cons
Pay needs adjustment, as the workload seems to be relatively heavier than the competitors.
Pros
good stable environment and good stable future
Cons
not much innovation is allowed for most disciplines
Advice to Senior Management
allow room for innovation
Pros
Moderate transparency in terms of management.
Cons
Not diversified enough in terms of business.
Advice to Senior Management
Hang out with the right people.
Pros
9 hours work in a week can have a Friday off.
Cons
Not stable, most of the projects are relying on oil price. Once oil price is down, oil sand project cut, massive layoff.
The manager has no desire to lead the team but waiting for retirement.
Advice to Senior Management
Be nice to the employee please.
Pros
Good industry exposure in the oil and gas industry.
Cons
Lack of communications from management to junior stuff.
Advice to Senior Management
Recommend more open communication between management to project stuff.
Pros
Above Industry Average Salary. Well established policies & procedures. Belongs to Bechtel. Alternate non-working fridays. Reputable EPC company in the oil sands/ upgrader industry.
Cons
No pension. No RRSP contribution by the employer. Measly bonus pay structure. Not enough incentives for furthering education/professional qualifications. Leadership does not visit project sites very often.
Advice to Senior Management
Try and find rotational assignments for construction folks. Increase performance review frequency to twice a year. Provide pension and RRSP employer contributions.
Pros
one of the best EPCM you can work with
Cons
if they stay in business then there isn't much cons, past mistake was not take small scale projects. But that was top management mistake.
Advice to Senior Management
Better learn from the mistake and recover from the low
Pros
- advanced IT infrastructure
- Some pretty talanted educated people around
Cons
- High workload
- Hired to perform certain role, extra work was thrown without even been asked if interested.
- Constantly cutting IT stuff down.."Extra Lean execution mode."
- Stuff ended up with no bonuses and salary cuts.
Advice to Senior Management
Be more responsible when hiring IT pros.
Present realistic situation and deliver on your promisses.
I was regretting leaving my prevous employer to work for Bantrel.
Pros
Lots of opportunities to learn. It is a very organized company and has established world class procedures. Fairly professional environment. Undertakes challenging projects and works fast paced.
Cons
Some how the company is influenced with demographics of people. Diversity is not very well managed and essence of having diversity is missing.
Advice to Senior Management
Work down through the root cause of demographic influences. Develop connection between senior management and junior staff.
