Pros
Insurance is good. Making close friends since you work together day in and day out in a close environment.
Cons
Seem to always work short, always needing more help. Too many complainers! Workers complaining constantly! Constant favoritism between workers/management.
Advice to Senior Management
Stop showing so much favoritism. Workers constantly bragging about what they do, and sitting around and doing nothing, (except complaining).
Pros
You really feel like family the moment you start! From fun and informative/paid new hire training, to the welcoming in you really feel happy to be apart of the team. Everyone works as a team to get the job done, and it's refreshing to see that from day in to day out.
Cons
Lacking when it comes to competitive salaries. They recruit to make sure they find the best of the best but then once you've gone through at least two interviews they negotiate to try to bring you in and pay you the bare minimum. I don't think that's a great way to bring in top quality and expect them to stay.
Advice to Senior Management
Appreciate the staff that has tenure, and if you really want the best employees to come in and stay make sure that you are paying them at a competitive rate. There are a lot of healthcare places in San Antonio, you can't afford not to pay a competitive salary.
Pros
Great pay and environment for a college student working a summer job.
Cons
None, outside of less than desirable weather to be working outdoors.
Pros
Benefits are good. Work is challenging, but can be personally rewarding.
Cons
Pay seems low to market. Pay raises don't even keep up with inflation. Seems that management looking for mediocrity. No appreciation for extra effort. Favoritism flagrant. Management loose, which can be both good and bad.
Advice to Senior Management
Walk the walk instead of just talking the talk. Realize that everyone is someone's customer.
Pros
Good Place to work with a lot of worker bees
Cons
Not too many downsides. A lot of middle management persons
Pros
Coworkers, education, and pay if you took the no benefit option
Cons
no career advancement, bad pay if you agreed to a benefitted position
Advice to Senior Management
Allow nurses a career ladder and pay/incentives
Pros
Dedication to patient care and employees. Strong professional development program.
Cons
retirement program not great for recent hires
Advice to Senior Management
See cons - retirement program below market
Pros
The people there were amazing.
Cons
The parking was not ideal.
Pros
Benefits are excellent/Human Resources very pleasant, appearing understanding when issues arose. Clean atmosphere. Confidentiality for patients and staff as relates to Human Resource Department and actual claim submission beyond reproach.
Cons
Cliquish/hard to communicate with co-workers/cold atmosphere in billing office/Jealousy, strife and backbiting abounds. Upper management on sight totally unaware. Interpersonal issues were common place. Yet manageable if you listen and avoid pitfalls.
Advice to Senior Management
Don't lose sight of the BHS premise that helping others and caring about individuals is the right thing to do. When an employee has the skill and intellect and have proven themselves, give the employee the chance to return to work after issues that led to voluntary separation have resolved.
Pros
The company overall is a great place to work.
Cons
The management team. If it was not for the management the place would be a wonderful place to work...
Advice to Senior Management
Take a closer look at nurse managers. Within healthcare the aim is to meet the needs of the patient and family. My nurse manager is only concerned with self. You do not have to be a rocket scientist to understand the last two statements are incompatable.
