I have been working at Baptist Memorial Health Care full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Great company and pretty decent benefits....wonderful team to work with

    Cons

I don't think they really listen to the employee satisfaction survey. They always give the managers something to work on when their area scores low but we really don't see a big difference afterwards if anything

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to your employees, keep an eye on the budget. If consultant hiring could be cut down maybe that will help with not having to eliminate jobs. Stop hiring your friends with no experience. The company has lost it's vision for the 3 folds of Christ...

Being run by a larger company means some of the "little people" get cut out or forgotten.

    Pros

    You will get paid on-time.

    Cons

This company is the worst. Work at Methodist! We had ice and snow - horrible road conditions. Guess what Baptist doesnt care it still counts against me. This is sad a company that doesnt care about its people is destined to fall.

    Pros

Good retirement benefits that you can keep even after you leave. my last boss was great. It was rewarding knowing you are helping people.

    Cons

Constantly changing. Sometimes it seems to be a knee jerk reaction without really thinking things through or getting input from employees

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Allow for more staff input

I have been working at Baptist Memorial Health Care

    Pros

This is a large organization that has lots of opportunities. With multiple locations, multiple types of healthcare services and a fully integrated EMR they should perform well.

    Cons

The organization has changed and left it's Christian roots and is turned into a profit seeking, expense reducing organization that does not care as much about people as it does about revenue. While they preach Christian values, senior and project management are no longer responsive to employee needs or concerns, and any conflicts or forced decisions come with the caveat "It's only about work."

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Go back to the sound Christian principles on which the organization was founded, and treat your employees as valuable assets instead of as numbers and cost items to control. Treat others as you would have them treat you. People leave because they no longer believe you follow that golden rule spoken by Jesus Christ.

I worked at Baptist Memorial Health Care full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

You get to meet all kinds of people from all walks of life, especially during big football game nights. If you're very good, they'll give you night shifts (11-7) that pay better. There are opportunities to move up.

    Cons

Some hospital policies are not conducive to getting the job done and inhibit your productivity. One particular supervisor is a bully who picks one person to jerk around for time periods. You'll deal with some crazies and drunks and tasteless jerks.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pick Supervisors who can speak decent English.
