    So So

ProsBarclaycard US is specialized - only credit cards and deposits. If you know these products, you do well.

ConsBarclays, the global bank in the UK, is almost always struggling. So, even though the US card business does pretty well, they have to deal with global problems such as financial issues with the investment bank and a slow-growth consumer franchise in England. This results in budget cuts and layoffs every 2 years.

Advice to Senior ManagementRapid growth has slowed. You're gonna have to get aggressive. Pick something and go with it!

I suppose there are worse places in DE to work.

Business Analyst (Current Employee) Wilmington, DE

ProsEveryone loves the CEO. The pay is pretty good. Casual dress. Lot of vacation days for full time employees. They serve beer at company events, during work days!

ConsThe levels of upper management below the CEO are not doing a great job. The technology department is a disaster, hard to say if the people are incompetent, or more likely they are handcuffed by their masters in the UK, who seem to have no problem taking twenty four months to reach a simple decision.

Advice to Senior ManagementEither accept the fact you report to the UK, and start to do things at their slow pace and high cost, or break free and go your own way. What you are doing now isn't working.

    Great salary and benefits

Assistant Vice President (Current Employee) Wilmington, DE

ProsOne of the top pay masters in the Wilmington area
Best benefits in the banking industry

ConsAbsolutely no career growth opportunity - everyone understands the pyramid structure for career growth, but literally there is no chance for upward movement beyond AVP. The Vice Presidents in general are sitting tight, working the least and choking hard working AVPs from getting a chance to move up. The company needs a shake-up at the upper middle management to get rid of dead wood

Advice to Senior ManagementIdentify seat warmers at the middle and upper middle management (esp VP level) and just get rid of them. These people are draining the company's wealth

ProsGood people. Nice facility in Wilmington. Good work/life balance.

ConsAmateurish management team. HQ runs the ship. No centralized decision making.

Advice to Senior ManagementToo many priorities that are in conflict with each other.

    Negative management in IT

    Technology (Current Employee) Wilmington, DE

ProsIn the past, a great place to work with great people and startup atmosphere. Some of that remains, but things have changed in the last few years. Recent move to agile development is a plus, but comes with a lot of negativity about current processes.

ConsNew IT and upper management with an "everything sucks here" attitude.

Advice to Senior ManagementBe positive instead of tearing down everyone and everything.
