I worked at Barclays Capital full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Really care about the people that work here. Analysts get meaningful responsibility and get put on major deals the moment they walk in. They will work you, but you'll get a good experience.

    Cons

The hours are fairly long for an investment banking analyst. This is pretty standard in the industry and remains the key issue as there's no way around that.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Should be more cognizant of analysts' times. The benefits and perks are decent to an extent but there needs to be more focus on streamlining work.

I worked at Barclays Capital full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

-the Latin American M&A team is a highly regarded team within the firm
-lots of deal flow and significant fees, given headcount
    -strong culture with great leadership
-strong platform across regions (specifically within Brazil and Mexico)

    Cons

-sometime can be worked too much
-expectation to work at least 100 hour weeks, regardless of deal flow

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

-senior analysts and associates shouldn't force juniors to stay late if there is less deal flow or if they're crushing work (can recall associates staying late for no real reason, just to make sure others were in the office later)

The firm is in the midst of a culture overhaul. The Lehman IB culture is gone.

I have been working at Barclays Capital full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

If you are a junior developer recently out of a university, you will probably do well working in New York. If you are a senior IT manager in London you will also do well.

    Cons

The decision making/leadership positions have migrated to London in the IB. The commercial bank was always this way. The firm has embraced the British culture recently. A number of new executives have been hired in London who have all brought their own reports and have taken over IT strategies.

    I worked at Barclays Capital

    Pros

This was before 2012 so things might have changed:

    Good networking opportunity,
A lot of social events for junior employees,
Used to be a fast growing business,
Used to be a less bureaucratic place.

    Cons

    Very "process driven"
    More external interference

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Reward good people regardless of external influence

I have been working at Barclays Capital full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Young optimistic environment - this is the only Barclays Capital location that is growing
    Fun
    Friendly
    Relaxed
Ping Pong Table, Fussball Table - after you've been working for 5-6 hours a game or two really helps get you going again. It makes you more alert, and promotes a friendly workplace environment.
Full of long time IB veterans that are completely open to mentor the young
    Lots of growth opportunity

    Cons

Hours are a bit long but that is to be expected working for an Ibank
When your parent is in the UK it creates all sorts of issues surrounding communication etc..
Parking is a complete mess. Though there is a parking garage and Ibanking employees always get a spot (since they are in so early).
Cafeteria food isnt the best and there are almost no food options within walking distance, awesome food trucks every other day, though

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management is doing very well keeping morale high and enabling a productive but fun environment. The compensation could be better, but hey, compensation could always be better. There i
